Didn't have my reading glasses on, so couldn't see caller ID. Answered. A recorder said, "My name is Lisa; this is about your credit card account; there is nothing wrong with your account but I would like to explain...." I hung up. ID said "unavailable". Others on this website are saying it is a collection agency. We have perfect credit, so nothing wrong there. Have reported to National Do Not Call list. I listed as a Telemarketer because they were probably selling a service.

10:45 am call from this unlisted number and asking for someone who would never be answering my phone. Lookup app reports the caller as probably Gatestone (Debt Collector).
| BJ 2012-12-11 21:45:42 Debt Collector |
The recording said it was Gatestone, and it was a "collection matter".
I called the number back and explained to their nighttime voice mail that my number did not belong to who they were looking for. This morning I got 2 more calls right after 8 a.m. (hang up calls this time) on my answering machine.
Unfortunately for me I moved this year and now have a listing in the local phone directory, under my initial and last name.
They (and many other collectors) are looking for someone with my same first initial and last name, and no matter how many of them I tell that my number does not belong to that person, and to take my number off their list, they keep reselling the collection info. and I keep getting calls from new collection companies.
The person who actually owes these debts would have to be an IDIOT to list themselves in a phone directory, and I've even told some of the collectors that, when I could get a real person and not a robo-dial setup.
I think I should be able to have a listing in the phone book without getting all this hassle!!

They gave their name as Gapestone. They called me, but wanted me to provide identifying information. This would be a bad security move on my part. They used a nickname for my real name which tells me it isn't me because I never use it, especially for financial accounts, and not even personally since I was 12. And I have no accounts that are in arrears or even close to being overdue. If they call you, make them give the identifying information that you can confirm or deny. I looked it up here before calling them back. The next person said she would take my number off their list. I did not have to give my identifying information.

They are calling concerning Bank of America. I just received a voice mail at my job. They are not allowed to call you on our job. All you need to do is verbally tell them you can't accept personal calls at work and don't call back again. This does not have to be in writing .

So how to I know if they are really working with Bank of America as they say they are? Is it really illegal to call me even after they have been informed by the debt settlement company I'm with that they will take care of my debt? They seemed to have a point regarding the tactics of the debt settlers...I just don't know who to trust anymore!

I have put a no solicitor system on my phone and this number called through. They do not say who they are, they just say to call for a business matter. I also am with a Debt Settlement Company. I won't call back.

Me too.....been in debt settlement since Feb & they called me at home & work just yesterday. Someone named Olivia who I told that I was in DS & she proceeded to say that they did not deal with those places & told me they were a ripoff & to Google my DS group.....then she offered me a 50 cents on the dollar settlement! I have referred this to my DS company.....they weren't listed at my Atty Genl's office as having any kind of file so I hope they are valid!

They are in CN first of all which makes me wonder why a company is used for a US bank but they are out of the country. Do they stll have to go by USA regulations, because they are harassing on the phone... They called me today and yesterday.
Catmom42 - so they are not allowed to call if you are in a debt settlement program? I signed up with one yesterday...

Yes,
Got a phone call from this number and a message to call back. Checked the caller I.D. and just a bunch of 000-000-0000. Did you find out who this is and what they wanted?
