Nationwide Insurance general call line. My call was NOT a telemarketing call. I have Nationwide and they were confirming the contact information for my new agent.

It's Nationwide Insurance. My policy is about to expire and they wanted to see if I needed to change anything. They went over everything and I told them no changes needed.

I also have Nationwide, and I moved recently and haven`t had the chance to update my info completely. I didn`t answer the call, and they didn`t leave a message. Now, had I known it was Naitonwide, I would have spoke to them. That is what chaps me is why don`t they display their name on the ID....then a person will know instead of using a search to find out who it is......grrrrr!

I had a message left - my policy is also ready to renew and they wanted to go over it.  I figure they just want me to buy more insurance.

Yep, this is Nationwide Insurance alright. I have Nationwide for my car and renters insurance. They call me every so often around renewals and once b/c there was a change to the policy so they call and check back on that. I took 5-10 minutes b/c I wasn't busy and let them go over my auto policy with me. They asked if I wanted to increase some things, I said no, they said ok. They explained my coverages, I guess I didn't realize I had towing on there so they pointed that out. That's all this number is. They run over the policy, offer increases or other products and you can say no. It's pretty amazing how just saying no means nothing changes on your policy. I read some of the other reviews and some of you are paranoid. It'd probably do everybody some good to know what they have and how their insurance works considering the point Drew V. made. I work in insurance as well and you'd be surprised at what your insurance does/doesn't cover. Ask them a ton of questions so you can learn more!

I used to work for Nationwide in their retention department. This ph# is the Nationwide retention dept. They have a project where licensed Retention Sales Agents call you around certain renewals to make sure your policy is updated b/c people rarely call their insurance company to update with certain life events such as moving, having a new driver in the household, having more assets than when they started the policy so they want to make sure you aren't under-insured. i.e they've had plenty of cases where people start the policy when they're young and get state minimum liability but then start a family, buy a house, buy a boat, etc and never update their liability. They then get into a serious accident causing injuries and only have minimum liability coverage. A lawyer then does an asset check on them and sees they are worth much more than their minimum liability coverage and go after their house, their boat, etc. Or they've had instances with younger people causing serious injury to parties and having wages garnished for the next 30 years of their life b/c they didn't have enough liability and no assets for lawyers to go after, so they nickle and dime them the rest of their life. But, do be aware they have sales goals for "upsells" or what they call "enhancements" so they may try to get you to add/increase something you may not need, but might not cost that much. The thinking being is that you feel more satisfied with their services and don't shop around and if they can increase premiums $5-10 per policy times thousands of policies, that's a large bump in earned premium that they can now invest.

A cut-off intro to my Google Voice, I only heard the word "nation." Empty, four-second voicemail left.

Ah, it makes sense that this would be Nationwide as I have them for car insurance and I think my policy is expiring now.  They've called 3 times now and never leave a message, I assume because it's a robot call.

We got a call from this number saying they were Nationwide and wanted to offer us an updated quote or rate, and then proceeded to ask us for personal information that they should have already had, including SS#. When we later tried to call the main Nationwide number, there was no record with our file of anyone having called us from Nationwide. Also they did not recognize this 800 number as being a Nationwide call center. Don't give them any of your personal info!!

Got a call from this number, but when I answered a recorded voice requested I press #1 for a message. When I did that the voice said that a mistake had been made and that they had reached the incorrect person?!  So I called abck to the number and got a Nationwide representative who had no idea why I had received the call.
