I spoke with 3 reps form Wells Fargo, they all transferred me to wachovias recovery division, which is this number. Anyone that receives a call from this number I suggest you call back and get a rep. You can double check my calling wells fargo as well, it is LEGIT. I quadruple checked to be sure they were. IF you know you owe wachovia money that number is one the that is safe. I would suggest calling it back though and getting a hold of a real person to be more comfortable.

Be careful about just ignoring the calls from this number, if you do have a banking relationship with Wachovia or have had one in the past and they have you in this collections system they WILL take your money and they WILL NOT send a letter explaining it. That is what happened to me, my account is in positive standing and all of a sudden Wachovia posts a random withdraw with this phone number listed as the source. It's predatory banking practices and they will take your money. I am researching to find out additional information and if it is worth fighting the $121 they took. Luckilly I had nothing pending against that money in my account yet, otherwise it could have sent my account into negative with additional money out for stupid bogus overdraft fees.

This number was given to us by a Wachovia branch manager as their Deposit Recovery department. We were given the number because they claim my husband has a $13,000 debt on a checking account. Not sure how that could even be possible.

This number just showed up on my cell phone, but before a message was left for me, the caller hung up.  So, I did a reverse phone number look-up and have discovered this is a scam number.  Good luck finding the instigators of this scam!

If you call up Wachovia Customer Service, and ask for a number for account recovery, they give you this number. CarMax Auto Finance asks me for all 9 digits of my social all of the time whenever I call them and don't have my account number nearby, so that practice is not unusual to me. You have the option of giving your account number as well, which Wachovia Customer Service can give you (although I don't think they can give you the routing number). So, while this may not actually be WACHOVIA, it is definitely a company working on their behalf (more than likely a collection agency).

Although I will note that they never called me themselves (to my knowledge), I called them myself to get my account OUT of recovery.

This number is calling me multiple times a week, sometimes multiple times daily, starting about 2 weeks ago.  They never leave a message and I don't think it even rings long enough to go to voicemail.  I have not called them back.  If this is Wachovia, I had an checking account with them for years but am now Bank of America and should have NO reason for them to be calling me about collections.  In all my dealings with them in the past, they have never called and always communicated through postal mail.

I also started getting calls from a 336 number that is listed on this site on exactly the same day.  I don't think that's just a random happening.  Someone's scamming.

This # keeps calling our cell phone every day. We have spoke with them several times and told them to take our # off their list. They are looking for a Demitrius Dewyer or something like that. We have probably over 50 calls on our cell phone. We repeat our # to the operator who says she no longer has our # in her system than the next few days the calls start again. Can't we sue these people who own this#. If that is what it takes than that is what we will find out how to do than maybe these calls will stop. I went to deposit recovery.com which is what the message states to do and cannot get anywhere with that. The ironic thing is that we are Wachovia Customers and we have no problem with our accounts and we have no idea who Demitius Dwyer is?? Help if you know how to stop this for good.

Ok some of ya'll obviously don't read any of the other post on this message board...IT'S WACHOVIA!!!! It's their collections/overdraft department...ITS NOT FRAUD!!! If you don't have an acct w/ Wachovia tell the rep so they can remove your number (that's what I did and guess what surprise the calls stopped!!) oh and you going to be on hold for a long period of time...Its a collections department they can't drop a call w/ another customer to speak w/ you so HOLD ON if you hang up thats you that has to deal w/ them calling you everyday...Just a thought for some of ya'll talking about fraud fraud....Oh and for the person who wrote the last reply...not all the reps at Wachovia know what they talking about...should have asked for a supervisor, cause a customer service rep told me the same thing and I called the number back anyway and the calls stopped

I first recieved an automated call telling to call 866-211-6980. When I did I was asked for my account number and S.S.. Of course I entered bogus numbers and got an operator named Becky who asked if I had a Wachovia account? I told her no and she said she'd take my number off the list. I asked her if there were another number I could call to verify that she was, indeed, with Wachovia and she gave me the 1-800-945-7745. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she told me they were all in a meeting and hung up. When I called 1-800-945-7745 Iagain entered bogus numbers and got Shanell. He asked me what my phone number was and what my name was? I told him my number and said he would find my name. He told me they were looking for Andre Ramos III and was I he, did I know him? I answered no and asked to speak with his supervisor. He said, "sure." and hung up.

Scam, Scam, Scam, Scam!!! I am calling the real Wachovia bank to let them know this is happening

You've got to be kidding me.  Any automated system that tells you to put in your full account # and then your 9 digit social???? COME ON PEOPLE!  That's crazy!  Wachovia NEVER asks that.  They ask you for your account #, and the LAST 4 social.  NEVER YOUR FULL SOCIAL!!!! And, if you're crazy enough to do it, they then transfer you to a "dead line".  I put in a fake account # and fake ssn, just to see what would happen.  I'm on the phone with Wachovia (the real one) @ 1-800-wachovia to report this #, and find out what the heck it's about.  I'll let ya know in just a sec! Ok, so here's the deal. It's Wachovia.  BUT, I still told them that I would never put in my 9 digit social, and they agreed.  I spoke to a guy using the 1-800-wachovia #, and he called the weird # for me.  He then got a woman on the phone who also worked for wachovia.  They were calling to remind me to transfer funds for an overdrawn account (I have 2 accounts).  I told her that the whole thing was strange, and again asked her why wachovia would ask for your whole social.  She said she had no idea, and was going to call the # herself to check it out.  I didn't give her any info of mine other than my city- no account #, no social, nada.  The guy I spoke to earlier just gave her my phone # to pull me up.  So, all in all, it's  Wachovia, but as always, BE CAREFUL!!!! Never put in your social for anyone!  Even wachovia.  Their normal system asks for your last 4.  This one asked for all 9. Can't blame anyone for worrying!

Left message saying to call back "Wachovia" at 1-866-211-6980 Certainly seems like a fraud since we have no relationship with Wachovia. It looks like other people have gotten calls from that number directly with the same message.
