I have been recieving calls from (800)949-1722 for several days on my cell phone!!  My number is on the National Do Not Call Register, but the calls continue.  I called the number (got CRS) and left a message not to call anymore, but I still am receiving an occasonal call from this number.  Next step is to report this activity to the FTC.

Calls almost daily. One time I picked up the call .  Just like everyone says a menacing male voice demands that I call the 800 #.  Of course I did not.  I do not appreciate the harassment!

http://www.crscollections.com   - I am accused of owning some money to an insurance company from a fender bender in parking lot. So for me this makes sense.. But I never would have figured it ou from their message.. What a terrible and unprofessional tactic.. Thier website describes who they are.. if this is actaully the website related to teh phone call, which to me in my case makes sense that it is.

Add my name to this litany of fear. Eight times in a week and a half.  I hope there is some Internet savvy human that can stop these people.  Monkey see . . . Monkey do!

Thanks for the credit check suggestion; much appreciated.  It's getting scary enough trying to do regular business without all this stupidity.

Debt Collector
Received a phone message on our office phone from "Mr. Miller" stating that "it is imperative to speak with us immediately" and that we should "call back immediately". He then stated the phone number (800-949-1722), gave an extension number of 304 and said to just ask for one of their investigators when calling and reference an incident number he also left on the machine. Actually I also received a live phone message from CRS referencing the same number as the claim number as what Mr. Miller referred to, and this was a legitimate collection call. The Mr. Miller message though really sounded shady and scam-like, the only reason why I know it actually has a valid reason, is because of the other phone message. So if anybody gets this message on their phone, check your credit report unless you actually do have a collection issue, to make sure that you weren't a victim of identity theft. Everybody is entitled to one free credit report annually from all three credit beauros. Just go to www.annualcreditreport.com and request your own. Good luck!

I'VE RECEIVED 5 CALLS IN 2 WEEKS, 3 OF THE CALLS LEFT THE SAME MESSAGE FROM 'MR. MILLER'. I'M SURE IT'S A TELEMARKETER/SCAM.

Same as above, Mr Miller, call immediately, etc.  The above mentions a CRS.  They are a COLLECTION AGENCY.  Please be aware if you have no collection accounts outstanding, you may want to get a free copy of your credit report to be sure it is clean.

Same as above and I did not call back because my instincts told me that this seemed fishy. The beginning of the message was cut off as some of the other posts have mentioned. Sounds like telephone phishing. What is the scam? Does anyone know?

I've had the same experience as all the above. Been getting calls for the past 3 weeks. Same Mr. Miller...same phone number asking to return a call in reference to an incident number...and to contact one of their investigators at extension 304. Like everyone else I have not returned the phone call. If it was so important there would be a live person not a recording and they would leave an agency or company name.

Same Deal. I have been getting 1-2 calls per day or every other day. Luckily I did not pick up the first time, but I called back because there was no message. A man answered, said it was CRS and that I was to hold to be transferred to an investigator. I hung up. The past times, the has beem a recorded message stating a reference number, but the first section of the message has been cut off.

Same exact experience as written above by "Bubba".  The recorded called identifies himself as "Mr. Miller".  I've received this message on my answering machine twice in the past week.  I deleted it both times for the same reasons that Bubba did.

Home phone rang - I answered and a male (taped message) sounding as if he is in authority - stated his name (did not catch this) and it is imperative that I call 1-800-949-1722 and an extention number and talk to one of their investigators immediately.  Did not mention what company, why, or who he was calling.  I am a fraud investigator and it sounded fishy as heck - no I did not call the 1-800 number (no company name, no live person and they want me to call them back and I picked up the phone).  Scam Scam Scam written all over it.
