Received a phone call at 6:14am WA time. Called back later and asked if you called. Started to tell him not to call me again at 6am in the morning and to cease calling me. In the middle of telling him he says he is a lead investigator. I said once again I have reported you to the Ftc and don't call me again. As I am talking he tries to tell me to be quiet or he will hangup. Needless to say, HE HUNGUP! Not putting up with this, they called the wrong person. I guess I will be hungup alot cuz they won't be able to get a word in edgewise.

HELLO USA,  this is a scam for sure.  They tried me in May and the Pay day debtor they claim was out of the country and was even on my US Bankruptcy papers. They started calling again with the same mumbo jumbo again.  MMMMM, 5 months go by and they are going to see if I forgot or are they so dum they forgot.  Now they are harassing family and friends.  AND they are calling them before 8am in the morning.  The are not following the law and on top of that they are FRAUD.  I just can't believe they get away with it.  I think ABC NEWS should find them and do a report like they did with other scammers I would love to see them get caught.  I work a low paying job just to make ends meat, and they sit in some house, room whatever taking hard working TAX PAYERS money.  I went through some hardships many years ago lost my home and now I am just getting back on my feet,  no way I am going to let some scumbag take my food, rent , insurance money out of my mouth.  MR. PRESIDENT and the FBI please catch these cooks.  Thank you and Please talk pass it on somehow to everyone so they don't get scammed.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

Debt Collector
Got a call this morning saying I had deposited a cash advance into my checking account in 2005, would be issued a summons if I didn't pay over $700.   I questioned and questioned them as I knew it didn't happen, and why so long?   Really put the lady on the spot to explain as she had a bank I had never heard of, my SS, but not a bank #.  She said I could fax back info. from the bank that nothing was deposted that day.  When I said I don't believe her and think this sounds fishy, she said had lots of calls to make and she would hang up.   Then I got online and put the phone in and this site came up.

It is a scam for sure.  I got a letter with an Washington State address and an Utah Number plus to send money to Canada.  I called the police and they said that it was a fraud.  He took the letter and made a copy of it and gave me a police report number.  When I called them the first time and tried to give them my lawyers name the gal on the other end stated that they do not take lawyers information.  She hung upon me.  Then I called back and was informed never to call that number again and I informed her that I was disputing the bill.  She proceeded to tell me that within a couple of hours there would be summons issued for me and hung up.
The police informed me that there is no way that a summons can be issued that quickly and before the due date.  Oh, yes, the letter stated that I had 10 days to pay up from the date of the letter plus then on the bottom before the payment information it stated the Fair Collections act that I had 30 days to dispute the debt. Plus the police informed me that since the dollar amount was an even number indicated that it was a scam. No legit collection agency would hang up on me and no legit collection agency would have an even number.
This is a scam for sure.  I noticed in the previous notes that they keep calling people.  Just tell them what I just did and you hear from them again.  I have not received a call from anyone or no one has showed up with a summons.  Plus, in the letter they had some words misspelled.
