As per Fidelity, this number is NOT legit.
I received a call from this number, and the caller left a voice message saying that she was calling from Fidelity regarding my account. Instead of calling this number back, I called Fidelity's customer service number listed on their webpage (800-835-5097). The customer service rep told me that they had not contacted me. In fact, they would never call me, but email me if required.

Fidelity.. so they say... asking for someone who is NOT ME. I don't see how they can get MY number with someone elses PHONE NUMBER who I do know. I am suspicious and asked them to remove my number since I am NOT the person they were calling for.
Dickman 2014-05-09 14:15:37 Unknown
Called me, I did not pick up, no message left. Probably a SCAM. Beware!
JoJo 2014-05-06 20:53:03 Unknown
It is not legit. They also call from 202 241 9018. saying they are from the IRS

The number is not a scam. It actually is Fidelity and the call is legit, asking to provide help, since I have an account with them.
anon 2014-04-01 04:56:58 Unknown
pretty sure it's a legit call from Fidelity. I haven't picked up recently but have in the past and they were polite. It seems if you check your online account it triggers a call.
Eric 2014-01-10 18:21:45 Unknown
The number is not a scam. It actually is Fidelity and the call is legit. If they're calling you, then you're probably a customer already. They're really good about honoring your request so if you ask them not to call, they won't. Chances are that if they are calling, there is a good reason why because these guys don't cold call nor solicit.

Person from Fidelity wanted to ask me some questions about my investment goals. I have an account there, but didn't need anything from them, so I ended the call.

It was a legitimate call; I spoke to an bona fide Fidelity account advisor. If accounts are inactive for a certain amount of time, they like to touch base. (BTW, they did NOT ask for personal info, nor would I have given it to them, since they initiated the call).
Note: my original account was not with Fidelity; with all the banking/financial institution mergers, they are merely the latest caretakers. I've had at least three in the last ten years.
If you think you are being called inappropriately, keep that in mind. Also, remember that phone companies recycle numbers; it's possible that your number used to belong to someone else. They are tracking down inactive accounts, after all.
Lastly, it's not impossible that someone could nevertheless be spoofing a valid number. If in doubt, ask for a name and extension, and call them back using legitimate company contact numbers.

If this is such a legitimate call like the majority of you are claiming, how did Fidelity get MY cell phone number when I have NEVER had an account with them? They don't seem to understand that I don't wish to speak to them, seeing as though no one ever leaves a message asking me to return the call, and I have yet to pick up the phone. I find this extremely odd...

The voice mail message came through a few minutes later to my phone and he was calling me back about my recent transaction. LEGIT CALL.
Janet - CT 2012-10-16 20:35:11 Unknown
Didn't leave VM message. I have had some recent transactions with Fidelity but since he didn't leave a message I will take it as a courtesy call.

100% Legit call from Fidelity Investments (I believe 401K and Retirement Accounts). If you get the call it's probably cause you have an account there.

this is legit, it's my investment guy, kevin, from fidelity. if you have fidelity, you should have his direct number and extention, if not you can call this number and get a hold of him but 801 is the area code for utah (SLC) where they're located and is long distance.

We received a call from Matt of Fidelity investments from this number. It was a legitimate call. As I said we preferred to talk to someone in person as we discuss financial matters, he said he would have our local Fidelity investment person call us and he would work with us through him. He also provided us with an 800 number and an extension to call him back with questions.
steve100 2011-10-06 01:44:44 Unknown
Sorry, wrong extension number. It is 75790.
steve100 2011-10-06 01:42:33 Unknown
That is a legit call from Kevin at Fidelity Investments. I have worked with him on portfolio. If you don't believe this post look up Fidelity's 800 number and ask for the Salt Lake city office and ask for ext. 77790. It will be kevin or his voicemail. They do call Fidelity customers and see if they are interested in going over your portfolio. No high pressure, they take not interested and say good-bye.

Called me and asked for Jeremy Porter. No idea who it was though.

FYI,
1) Don't even pick up the call ----- you are not obligated to talk to anyone on unknown phone numbers . Surely you don't open unknown e-mail addresses, do you?
2) if it's important enough your unknown caller should leave a message
3) if you happen to answer the call and the caller is a telemarketer, or is rude or pushy just say "hang on a minute" ( don't even wait for a polite opening ), put the phone down, and later, hang up when you hear the dial tone.
4) are you being charged to call that area code 321 number to remove your phone number from the call list? just curious
TIME is the most valuable asset to telemarketers so the longer you keep them on line the more likely you will be removed from the contact list. DON'T TALK TO THEM !!! It works for me !!
Am now able to blacklist phone numbers on our Ooma system and set the system to continuously ring. See Ooma.com

This was a call today August 17 2010 from Fidelity, Utah.

This # called, man left a VM: ""Alan Ortman with Fidelity Investments", told me call back 800-544-5315 and use extension 76083.
From what people are saying it sounds like it's a form of sales call from Fidelity to see if they can "help" you with your investments. Thanks, if I wanted help I'd call you.
Bobo 2010-07-13 23:45:19 Unknown
Seems to be legitimate. The guy didn't ask for passwords or any personal information. He seemed to know enough about my portfolio that he probably wasn't a scammer.
dk 2010-01-25 15:50:35 Unknown
It was a very nice Fidelity Investment planner offering to assist me with my Fidelity account. I did not need help, but they were very polite in accepting that answer.
