I got same call and i researched come to find out there is no hightower and associates in wa dc there using a law firms name based in California

I got the same call last night, Sarah Parker said they had me on video surveillance with a fraudulent check that I tried paying a bill with, I contacted my lawyer who is going to contact the attorney general's office.

Your sister was arrested for cashing a fraudulent check which is real but these other posts are about being told they owe a debt and that they would go to jail which is a scam

I also got a call from 202-568-6676 except it was from a Sarah Parker and they said there was a warrant for my arrest and if I didn't call very soon I would go to jail. This is all very ridiculous since the call is from Washington D.C. and I live in Washington State. They just want you to send them money. It usually occurs if you had outstanding debt from the past and they have accessed the records to hope you will believe you owe them money

Hightower and Associates are the attorneys for the victim. They are a real law firm so I don't know what you people are talking about.  

I received a message from Lauren Stonewall? She spoke so fast and in a "harsh" tone that it was difficult to understand her. She did the same thing, said there was a warrant going out for my arrest today and that I needed to call Hightower & Associates at 202-618-8777 to avoid going to jail on some kind of federal warrant. I didn't call back, I researched first and found this thread...Thanks to all who have taken the time to post the information!!

I received a call from them today. Also dating back to 2008 and they also wanted me to pay $987.52 today. I called my local police department they told me its a scam.

I received a call yesterday stating this same thing. The law office was Hightower and Associates. I have two different numbers for the company 202-568-6676 and 202-683-2565. The first number stated in her voicemail that it was a Dakota Penn and the second was Kelly Pierce from Hightower and Assc. They told me the same thing and I needed to pay $987 or there would be a warrant issued for my arrest and I would sit 90 days in jail. I did research on this, contacted the company the check was supposedly wrote to and they didn't have me in their system when I told the "law firm" this they got upset and told me that it was another criminal offense. They could not give me any information regarding the check that was returned because it was already turned over to the state. They also said they were trying to charge me with bank fraud but since they ran me thru the national criminal investigation system and nothing came back with a flag they could drop it. I contacted the sheriff's office as well as the consumer protection agency. They advised me to put a freeze on my credit report as the company has personal information. This is all a SCAM! They try and get you rattled so you make the payment and they don't call you until the businesses are almost closed in hopes for you to pay the money right away and not give you the time to find anything out. I'm glad I did the legwork!!!

RELAX people!  Everything about these calls is bogus and illegal.  Threats of arrest and/or prison time, intimidation, foul language, lying, and other scare tactics related to debt collection are ALL ILLEGAL!   These are criminals, so naturally they do ILLEGAL things.  In most cases the debts are whimsical fantasies.  
Bottom line:  They are attempting extortion based on fear.

There are no debtors prisons in the United States.  You cannot be arrested for a debt.  The worst that could possibly happen to you is that you'd get a subpoena to appear in court.  But even this is NEVER going to happen unless the debt is legitimate and worth the effort and expense to the collector.

My brother n law called me and told me that the Law office of associates called looking for me and that they put a warrent out for my arrest.. So i called the # which was 1 512 379 5839 and they had said the same thing about taking out a loan and not paying and they said If I dont pay I have to turn myself in and do 90days in jail.. or pay.. so my wife called them and they were rude and yelling say she was a fugitive and to record the phone and hung up. she called back to ask for a web site or something to prove who they are...  and some lady said Nancy Hightower is the attorney and she spoke with some other lady who claimed to be her sister.. anyway she was rude and disrespectful and my wife couldnt even get a word in... its a big scam! they r a joke.. BE CAREFUL PEOPLE!!

That was not really called for.  Some people are good people but less educated than others.  It doesn't make them any less of a human being than yourself.

I had a women  Nancy Hightower call me and leave me a very rude message stating that I failed to respond to notifiation that was sent to my residenace. I needed to get it resolved ASAP or I was going to be arrested.  However I was never sent anything. I called them back and spoke with Ivy Wells and she was also rude. Told me that I received some type of loan back back in 2008 and never paid it back. She would not let me get a word in, she told me that I should take a shower because the police were coming to my residence in 30 minutes. LMBO These people need a real job.

hi just got the same kind of call and everything from back in 2005 checking acct with a bad check so i call my bank and let the know,and made a report with the cops and everyithing i located in ohio they called my mom, sister and who else i don't know and know about my phancy going though div custody and everything so it a scam report if u get  a call from this number

i received a call from this number said they was a law firm of investigation claimed to be a Keli Baker out of Tenn. claiming to have a federal case against me regarding fraud on a check and bank i never had ,,  claimed if i didn't pay i was going to federal prison for 10 years and that i was to call them back with the money before 4 pm to keep the charges from being issued fully , i called the local police station and there was no charges and no record of any pending charges ,, and not to send them any money . that it is a scam trying to get money from any one they can ,  and do not give them any info ,, i filed a report with my local police station as well as surrounding counties to alert about this kind of call and this number
