I called the number back and it was a company called tradenet,I believe they wanted to sell me on them selling my car.
Richard 2011-06-22 04:02:45 Unknown
Doesn't work. Just hangs up on you. I thin this is a scam to get you to call so that they can capture your number.
Richard 2011-06-22 03:56:17 Unknown
Life long Democrat. Sold red white and blue candles for McGovern when I was a little kid. Voting Green in every election from now on because of Harris Direct. Thanks.
Richard 2011-06-22 03:53:11 Unknown
Why should I have to call someone, give them my number and name, register with them to keep them from calling me? This is extortion.
Richard 2011-06-22 03:50:16 Unknown
How about if I call you 17 time a day and require you to call back so I can put your number on a "live" list to sell? I don't think we should have to put up with this. Can you say class action?

They call 2 to 3 times almost daily! Reported to BBB as suggested on this board. When I get to a real keyboard will draft and send letters to the listed charities on their site namely WWF, DNC, Sierra Club, Doctors w/o Borders, and Planned Parenthood. (Wait...having typed this list, except for DNC they are all feel-good charities. Then add DNC back and it would seem this marketer is trying to irritate people about DNC as it is an outlier in this group! You think?)

This number never stop calling my HM phone for almost six months. I once picked the phone and shouted to it:" stop calling" but it is still coming. Actually I Googled some callers who said they represent "Charity", they are not. They just use any legal Charity's name, such as " Doctor without the border" ( it is my support Org.), for money then they will keep big portion of it and may give little to the Organizations they "used" so they would boast that they indeed do some "good works" in order to keep luring money from people. "Not To Call List" is no use I tried because of above reason. The only way you can do is to ignore their call or if you are not in good mood, shout at them. If you would like to donate to the organization you support, do it directly through their website. ( They can be checked and all have own website)

Get calls from them constantly. Emailed them and requested to be taken off their call list. We'll see what happens.

These people have called several times & never leave a message.
Tonight they started calling around 8:pm, in a half hour they kept calling 6 times.
I am on do not call list, but that doesn't seem to work with these people.
frank 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown

Harris Direct is a legitimate company that calls for money on behalf of its clients -- I think they are all exempt from thedo not call list, but still just as annoying.

Going to the Harris Marketing web site, you can find this listing:
Jim Harris: 818-222-3470 ext 102
I recommend calling that number and leaving a message for Mr. Harris. It's only courteous of us to help Mr. Harris understand that there is a problem with his business's auto dialer. And I think EVERYONE should be courteous and CALL HIM. OFTEN.

I am receiving these calls even though our number is on the National Do Not Call List. I have informed caller of this and we are still receiving calls from this number...
DIGS 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
As I understand, there is a loophole in the "Do Not Call" Registry. When you donate to most charities such as Doctors Without Borders you silently give permission for their marketing companies such as Harris Direct, to legally bypass your "Do Not Call" preferences. It is not the charities themselves who are conducting business this way, but the marketing companies they hire who conduct this practice.
Our options are:
1) Contact Harris Direct by phone, email or snail mail and tell them to take your name off their list and remove your telephone numbers. This action obligates to do so.
2) Contact whatever charity you have ever donated to let them know that these practices by the marketing companies they hire are costing them donations. This is what I did with Doctors Without Borders. As long as the marketing companies they hire continue to do business this way I will no longer donate to their organization.
I know this is not the only way to end up on their list, but it is one of the more common paths that most people are unaware of.

I've gotten this caller for 4 weeks now, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. What IS going on?? Can this stop?
anne 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
I got a call from this number and it read "Harris Direct". Didn't answer it.
rwgate 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
Harris Direct calls people according to donations they have made in the past. If you donated to Doctors without Borders, that's who you'll get a request from. If you donated to the Democratic National Committee, it will be from them. Political solicitations are not required to honor the Do Not Call list.
Expect a lot of this just prior to an election. Actually, it's a smart thing for someone like DWB or DNC to do, as you've already indicated with your donations that you support their cause. It is annoying, however, that it is so difficult to get off their list.

Someone from this number has called my cell phone approximately 6-7 times. Twice just today.
lisa 2011-06-06 20:59:55 Unknown
this is doctor's without borders irresponsible telemarketing firm. i called and spoke with a development assistant at their NYC headquarters...they will put you on the do not call list. this is CRAZY F-UP'd TELEMARKETING! THESE PEOPLE ARE ON CRACK! they call me like three times a day. and instead of letting it be a missed call i answer and just sit there. a few times i was in the john and i flushed the toilet in their ears which is the most appropriate response to this kind of aggressive bu***hit. doctors without borders will NEVER GET A SINGLE CENT FURTHER FROM ME AS A RESULT OF THIS SHITTY BEHAVIOR.

Calling the 818-222-3470 number seemed to work. At least I reached a person who promised to remove me from their list. If this is truly a Doctors Without Borders connection, that organization has seen its last donation from me. What a disappointing link to what I have always believed to be a great organization.
