You did the right thing by 'phoning a number you know to be true.  However, it is best for everyone who receives a call claiming to be from their Bank to do that.  No-one should ever take one of these calls at face value and assume it is legitimate. No one should ever give the caller any information to one of these callers.  They should do as you have done and 'phone a legitimate number.  Another little triuck these scaammers use is to leave the #phone line open so that when you think you are 'phoning the legitimate number they are, in fact going straight back to the scammers, so always leave a little time before you 'phone.  The thing to remember is that the scammers are very aware of this website and are not above putting posts on here claiming that the number is legitimate.  Sad but true.

It is fine .. i googled first then phoned  i used a direct number instead of the one on the automated that it gave..and it is hailfax .. a ten pound payment to o2 flaged up as fraud ..so dont panic not a scam !! :)

I have had a call claiming to be from Halifax fraud department, I rang to check with Halifax after reading the comments on here, it is a genuine Halifax fraud number.

Had a call off this number. As stated above it is someone claiming to be Halifax Fraud department.
It is not Halifax and a scam do not answer and add to blocked list. I have had a voicemail left on both Home and Mobile phone.

I received a call from this number and it was Halifax anti fraud line calling to verify a transaction
