This company called me and the representative stated he was looking to serve me a summons and wanted my home address and told me to make myself available for service.  Essentially, he misrepresented himself as a service processor.  Does that fall under threatening a lawsuit?

One missed call on February 25, another on March 3, and two more on May 21. All in the space of this year. Honestly, I never pick up my phone, it's always on

Same as athers, I had been getting phone calla from this number and no message is left, and nobody talks when  I answer.
I will not call back as I had seen many tv programs of crooks trying to make thefts by making phone calls and get you to call back them to take control of your money, so I do not bother, but came to check in the internet what they know about this number.

wow unbelievable, these guys are definitely scammers.. i was receiving calls from 855)6910193 0194 and 0195 on my cell and i tend not to answer 800 or 855 numbers because i know theyre usually telemarketers. they never left a voicemail and would call at bizarre hours so i got curious. after doing some research here i called back the 0194 number and was told they were trying to collect debt from my time warner acct?? i told the rep i owed nothing to time warner and he even read me my old apt address at which i had used time warner o_o i questioned him about it and he said he'd send me the acct and asked for my new address, i gave him a bogus address and he said he'd send it and thanked me and hung up.. i felt a little weirded out after so i called the 0195 number this time to doublecheck and was met w the same automated recording and then redirected to a different rep (also another red flag is instead of saying "time warner cable this is ___ speaking" like all company customer service is trained, he just said HELLO?) i told him i was checking because i had just spoken w another rep and though my address was wrong, he reviewed my acct, read back the EXACT address i had told the first rep and edited some things. i started asking what kind of business they were and why they were calling me from so many numbers and he began raising his voice at me and defensively saying they are a debt collection agency and he doesnt know what im talking about so i said "well i just talked to someone else at the 0194 number and clearly its the same since you have my address" and he started yelling and saying he has no idea and their only number is 888 (something something) and i said "really? cus i just spoke w a different rep at 855 6910195? also i dont understand why youre yelling at me when you dont even know your company's phone number.." and he kept yelling over me saying NO! youre wrong! MAM I ALREADY SAID I DONT KNOW!! and then he was like "mam?? GOODBYE!" and hung up on me.. definitely fishy, it scares me that he has my info but im glad i dont live at that apt anymore.. dont waste your time w these guys folks! if it really is a collection agency, they run a s****y business and i wouldnt want to deal w them anyway..

I got six calls from this number in a matter of 20 minutes. If they are a collection agency who is after my money or whatever why don't they respond when you answer and say "Hello"?!? Really irritating and frustrating. I just got my new cell phone yesterday! How do they already have my number?!?

Debt Collector
This company seems to be a scam, as they will just change their number by one digit, in an attempt to spoof your phone's caller id. Any real debt collector will leave a message, with a file number to reference when you return the call. The fact these losers don't leave messages, says scammers--to me at least.

What a load of garbage! 855-691-0194 Sick fo these want to be's whatever they are! Could care less of fake callers or what or whom they work for! Don't even know why I even got called! Pretty stupid, thinking someone is going to give private information or even a credit card information out over the phone. That has nothing to do with what is going on or to whom they bother! Again, the do not call list does not work at all. It seems we as American's get bugged by the lowest of all.
And nor do we even have a real number to call when we need it!

Debt Collector
I've been getting calls on my cell from this company using 855 691-0191, 0192, 0193, 0194, and 0195.
Answered twice at first, no one responded. Answered twice more, got the recorded message to wait on the line for the next available customer service rep. nuh uh- I am on a minute pay plan, I do NOT wait on the phone for anyone!
So- today, I had enough! I called the number from my landline. The man who answered told me he would remove my number and before I could even give him my cell number, he hung up, so I called back. This time, the woman who answered was very thorough, listened to what I said, asked a couple questions, then assured me that my number was removed (although it *could* take 2-3 business days).
We shall see...

*Also posting this on this site for the other numbers this company uses.

They called my house and the answering machine answered and said it was an important "business call" for and said my name. It said to be connected to a rep press one. So I did only because they knew my name and my number is private. It rang and rang for a rep to answer but no one ever picked up. If they are a collection agency I'm positive I have no unpaid debt and I have credit monitoring so no one else has charged anything in my name. Feels like solicitors or a scam.

A Collection Agent May Not?

Here are the top 11 actions prohibited by the The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act:

Misrepresent Him or Herself

A debt collector may not misrepresent himself as an attorney or law enforcement officer.

Use the Telephone to Annoy or Harass

A collection agent may not cause a telephone to ring or engage any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with an intent to annoy, abuse, or harass anyone at the called number.

Threaten Arrest or Lawsuit

A collection agent may not threaten a consumer with arrest. It may not threaten legal action that is either not permitted or not actually contemplated. In other words, a the threat of a lawsuit may be an empty one.

Use Abusive or Threatening Language

A debt collector may no use abusive or profane language in the course of communication related to the debt.

Publish a Bad Debt List

Publishing the consumer?s name or address on a "bad debt" list is prohibited.

Contact By Embarrassing Media

A debt collector may not communicate with a consumer by post card. It may not use any language or symbol, other than the debt collector?s address, on any envelope when communicating with a consumer by use of the mails or by telegram. A debt collector may use its business name if such name does not indicate it is in the debt collection business.

Contact a Consumer at Work

A collection agent may not communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.

Seek Unjustifiable Amounts

A debt collector may not demand any amounts not permitted under an applicable contract or as provided under law.

Contact a Consumer Represented by an Attorney

A collection agent may not contact a consumer after it learns the consumer is represented by a lawyer.

Communicate With a Consumer After Receiving a Validation Request

If a consumer sends a written §1692g response within 30 days, the collection agent may not communicate with the consumer until it mails the consumer the requested verification of original creditor's name and address.

Communicate With Third Parties

A debt collector may not reveal or discuss the nature of a consumer?s debts with third parties other than the consumer?s spouse or attorney. A collection agent may contact neighbors or co-workers only to obtain location information. It may contact a third party again if it has reason to believe the information the party provided previously is false.

Bills.com FDCPA FAQ

Below are questions Bills.com readers ask frequently:

Can a Collection Agent Call My Cell Phone?

Yes. However, if you tell the debt collector it may not use that number because it is a cell phone, it may not contact you again at that number.

I Keep Receiving Dozens of Calls From Collection Agents. Is That Legal?

No. Unscrupulous collection agents will use "block parties" or "office parties" where they contact a consumer, multiple neighbors, or co-workers telling them they need to reach the consumer on an urgent matter. This is not permitted under the FDCPA.

A Collector Says I Will Be Arrested if I Do Not Pay

This was a true statement before the US Civil War, but has not been true since. People may be arrested if an aggressive judge files a bench warrant for a person who does not appear at a hearing relating to a lawsuit regarding a debt. However, in that case, the offense is the failure to respond to a court order, and not the existence of the debt. As stated above, it is illegal under the FDCPA to threaten a consumer with arrest if the consumer does not pay the debt.

@Missy, I tried calling back and  I  received a recorded message to try again later.  So, if they really are  collection agency , how do they collect  payment when they never speak to the party they call and if called back they have a recorded message to call back later.

This sounds like some kind of scam .

It appears most of the posters. To this site do not have any outstanding debt--neither do I.

Can anyone explain why a collection agency calls and hangs up--and if they continually do this isn't that stalking?
