I got a text yesterday morning and I'd like to blame it on me being sleepy but I actually responded to the text and called the # and actually put in my information. As soon as I hung up I realize what I did and I called my bank and had them put a hold on everything and I went in and got a new card and pin.

It's so obvious when I look at it now. And it even said on their recording that it was for MasterCards and mine was a Visa and it still took the info so I guess I'm lucky I woke up just in the nick of time!

Prank Call
I got 2 texts to call Achieve Card Services. One did not have the complete #.  It confused me at first because it shows that this is from my phone carrier.   I have heard of recent spam messages to call. These are fraudulent.  If anyone is trying to get ahold of you for needed info, there are other more appropriate means. I always reverse check #'s these days.

Confirmed it is a scam, using a buggy IVR system.    When I called the number back, I used a credit card testing number to enter into the automated response system.  En I realised if you enter certain commands you can actually get an administrative menu you could modify the IVR settings.

I didn't try any of the default passwords to the system but I can confirm it must be a scam because only a scammer would leave the admin access open for call ins.

It is so generically setup you cannot identify who this belongs to.   So all of you who say "I'm on a do not call list". STFU, do you even think the scammer cares if you are on the DNCL.   I don't care if you are on the call list, if I received your phone number through a unfiltered list, I wouldn't give two s**** if you told me you were on a do not call list.  My first offence to you wouldn't net you a damn thing, complain about being called for telemarketing or scams, it doesn't matter to these people.

So here is my tip to nimrods who can't comprehend calls.

Pickup the phone.   Answer the f****ng call.   Then start your investigation process.  If you can actually talk to a human, you make that person give up as much identifying info of the call Center as much as possible.  Don't go off complaining, because obviously you are complaining to the wrong person.   You should be pressing that person to identify the business as much as possible.  I you can get a address the more power you have.

Because that do not call list allows for stupidity.  You must inform the caller to not call you again, and the caller is obligated to identify themselves by law.  And if you tell them you wish to never be called again, then you damn well should understand who is calling you first.

By going online and venting short useless details about the phone number you are complaining about you do absolutely nothing to help others to crack down on the scammers.  Just yesterday I got a call from CDC trying to do a survey.   When I looked up the number online, I found the majority of people complaining about the CDC calling all are idiots who didn't understand jack s*** about telephone laws.   It was only after I called the CDC back to find out truly what the call was about.

So I hope my comment here helps someone.

First, asnwer the damn call, by ignoring it you do absolutely nothing in helping other construct what the caller is.
Second, press the caller...  Find out who they are, by law they are required to identify the business they are calling on behalf.  I they don't or refuse, then you have a legitimate red flag to complain about.
Third, research, look up as much as you can about the telephone number and the info you received.  Because if you can post on 800notes.com then you are half intelligent enough to use google to lookup what you've gathered so far.  Does 5 minutes of trying hurt?
Finally, post on 800notes or any of these complaint sites what you have found out.  Anything that takes more than five words to construct a sentence is very helpful to others.

This makes me grateful that I have a "dumb" phone and have asked the carrier to block all text messages, incoming and outgoing.  Too old to figure out how to text, and texting sounds like another medium for crooks and fraudsters to rip people off.

Two days ago a company withdrew $30.00 from my account which I did not have any dealings with. Today I just received a text message asking me to call to activate a card. I wonder if they are related it seems coincidental the timing of both.

I got one from info@info.com at 2:00 a.m.  Just said Achievecard.com: Please call 858-800-2101. Sounds pretty darn important that's why I blocked both the email address and the phone number. Never heard of Achievecard.com until now.
