I have also been contacted by Sandy...for the brennan law office. Sealed affidavit, contact within 24hrs or i will be arrested for fraud. I actually called back and left message. He returned call hours later. Stating i had a cash advance done online for 580$ said i used family members as references and all. I didnt even know that was possible. he also stated it was done 5yrs prior from an address i hadnt lived at for 10+yrs. Tried to blame it on my parents! They themselves had not even lived at that address for 7+years. I told him i called the prosecuters office, about the person serving me over the phone. In which they had not heard of, he said he couldnt explain that. But the 5yr statue is coming up on 7/15/13 for check fraud. Which the State of Michigan is coming after me for. From an account i have never had, checks i have never wrote. he said he would settle for 360.58 and give me a 7 day extension to pay this and to contact him later this coming week. uhm. 7/15 is tomorrow. you dumb a**. after that you have no 'legal' right to collect anything. This guy really is a moron, I think honestly i jus played him. I would really like to set up a sting for him to collect a bag of rattle snakes. Because he deserves some real venom. Like a 9mm bullet. :)

I just looked up George Brennan on this site, complaints of scamming going back to 2007 using different "agent" names but still that Brennan "Law Office". Everyone says same exact thing, most people were being told they had old insurance premiums from years before that had to be paid, but it looks as though it is in fact a big scam! I'm not giving them any info, they called looking for me in my previous married name I haven't had in 5 years, they called my husband, mother in law, ex husband, all under the wrong name! Sounds like these guys need taken to court for impersonating attorneys & threatening people! I found a link to an attorneys website who has previously filed suits against them for people, I contacted them!

I had contacted my state authorities regarding this since I found no information. I was concerned about the legal process and asked if it was appropriate for this scenario. I was told to contact my State Attorney General. This is not proper behavior for a legal matter. I got a second call this morning stating pretty much the same this: "State Processor for County Independent Processing...File received back for no response...Call with 24 hours...If not, good luck." Really?! Good luck?! Thanks to all who posted here.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I just got this number left on my cellphone vmail and wife's vmail a couple days ago talking about some payday advance loan and they had tapes/papers/ect and if I didnt pay that we would be arrested for fraud. They left this 877 number to call a law office of George Brennan(???) I can't find anything on this office or number. Also the call isn't coming from the Law office it is coming from an "Eric" or "Aaron" who sounds non too professional on the vmails he is leaving but he calls from a blocked number and claims to be from the county processing office with a signed affidavit. He doesnt state from WHAT county or leave a number except to the Law office in which NO ONE answers.

Got a voicemail from this number to my husbands cell phone for me, under my previous married name(haven't had that name in years!). They stated it was a legal matter they had an affidavit with my social security number attached, that I had 48 hours to call back. I am also thinking SCAM my husband and I both could not find any info on the number OR the so called lawyers name (Brennan sp?) I wouldn't call them, also do NOT give your social security number to ANYONE! If they say they have it I would report them to your state attorney generals office!!

I've received a voice mail saying to call this number regarding a legal matter. Came out of nowhere so I am thinking it's a scam. I'm looking into it trying to verify it with my local and State authorities before calling back. Internet search on other features of the call came up empty. You are the only one listing this number. This is my go-to for unknown callers so I'm a bit concerned right now!
