This person is somehow affiliated with Presidential Who's Who. They have a Facebook page:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Valley-Stream-NY/Presidential-Whos-Who/175620283049?v=info
We have requested several times that they remove us from their telemarketing list and we are on the DNC/DNF list. They continue to disrupt our business with faxes and calls and now their affiliates are doing the same. File an FCC complaint if they contact you. This has to stop, they do not follow Federal solicitation guidelines.

I got a call from 908-795-1608 during the evening of 4/27/10. It was a recorded message that said something like, "We're sorry, we dialed your number in error. We're sorry for the inconvenience. To be removed from our calling list, dial 877-281-6343 and enter PIN # 1662." It was a woman's voice with a slight British accent. I have the same message recorded on my answering machine from the previous night. They called my home phone number and I'm on the do-not-call list, so this call is in violation of federal laws.

Just received this call. But by reading this string it tells me absolutely nothing. Thanks

Received the same call today.
I would bet if someone called from a regular home phone that entering the PIN would change the LD or assign a service to the line. Or maybe a large one time service fee.

Hello again, after calling this number last night from a pay phone I am no longer the same person. You may not want to continue reading this because once I tell you what happened when I called this number, you my friend will no longer be the same person as well. Last night was like any other cold, wintry night here in northern Minnesota. The first payphone I stopped at to place the mystery call was dead with no dialtone. Maybe it was a sign that I should not proceed with satisfying my raging curiosity that was nudging me on for the past few hours. The second pay phone I found was in a state of disrepair, a smashed light housing with jagged plastic edges begging to cut me. As I stood in the cold December wind with my 4 wheel drive vehicle lights blaring, I slowly and carefully dialed the mystery number to be sure to get it right on the first try. Once connected, the clear coherent female voice instructed me through the process of removing my number from the list, of course after first entering the code number provided 1-6-6-2. At the end of the call the comforting female voice assured me that my number was removed from the list. It took a mountain of bravery to place this call and I am glad to report the results to the world with the assurance that for the rest of my life my time will no longer be wasted by listening to that message again. I do apologize to you, my friend for wasting more precious minutes of your time related to this matter, at least now you can rest assured the results of what happens when you call 1-877-281-6343, is surely just a waste of (1.) your time (2.) valuable telephone resources and (3.) brain cycles spent pondering the mystery of it all. Good Day, thanks for listening.

My daughter and I both received the call this evening. Said the same thing as Peggy previously said. We did not call back.

Same thing happened here. Feel pretty certain it is a scam but wished someone had called and posted what happens when you call.

I received two calls this evening on two different business phone lines. The RECORDED message said, "We're sorry we dialed your number in error. Please call 877-281-6343 to be removed from our calling list. That's 877-281-6343. Enter Pin # 1662. That's Pin # 1662."
I did not call the number and I did not enter the Pin Number.
I can't figure out the purpose of this stupid call.
