I got a call yesterday from a "third party" person asking me if I would be home between 9am and 4pm because a legal document was being delivered and somebody needed to be here to accept it. When i asked what this was regarding i was told to call 877-299-4801 for additional information.

I called and spoke with a Frank Harraro (im not sure on the spelling) who pulled up "my account" and asked if i was "mary ______", which is my mother. He told me this was regarding a civil law suit between my mother and a place called Ace Cash Express, but he isnt at liberty to provide details. He tried to get me to give my mother's info, but i refused. This is the second time this place has called me and my mother has never used Ace Cash Express. Its a complete scam. The more questions you ask, the more irritated they get. Please be careful and always do research before making any sort of payment arrangement or giving any of your personal info.

They're scammers.  Think about it - even if you WERE a reference for your friend, that doesn't make you responsible for your friend's debt.  Although it sounds as though your friend could be getting scam calls like this too.

Next time they call, tell them that you're recording them every.single.time.  Tell them you're doing this on the advice of your attorney (even if you don't have one).  And DO report them to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.

I keep getting calls from this # saying a friend I know used me as a reference and has defaulted on the loan.  I called them back once and they were very threatening and said i could be responsible.  I told them I did not sign anything which means I hold no responsibility.  If they accepted me as a reference without my signature that is their problem.  I finally threatened to report them to the BBB and anyone else I could think of if they did not stop calling me.  They stopped for about 6 months and are now calling back with the same story.

I am getting phone calls at my job, my relatives in other states are also getting calls looking for me and they are even going as far as giving out my social, which I do not confirm is mine. Today I got my first email stating Powel Law office at 877-299-4801 from ssm group llc will be contacting me to settle this in court. I Have changed my cell number and even quit my job due to this, I am hoping they do not find me at my new job. Trying to explain this to my employer was hard, and I do not owe these people money. I have taken out my house phone and have a pay as you go phone now. As far as my relatives, I tell them give not information out. I did happen to speak to one person with very thick accent (middle eastern) and he told me the fbi has a case aganist me and someone is coming to arrest me at my job. I asked for his supervisers name, a badge number, anything so that I could contact someone. He hung up on me. I called again, and he would not give me any information til I confirmed my social security number, which I did not, I did not even give him my real name. I do not know how to get rid of these calls.

got a call from them from an 857-362-0701 number claiming to be LRA out of boston mass. so are they LRA or are they this atty powell????

This is a scam powell law office using different names but the same kind of voice and i have the recordings  they are totally fool .............

they never leave a message.

These people called my job and left a message from some "Geneva Jones" chick and just left a phone number with no details as to why they were calling me. I don't know what they want or why they are calling my job. They call my office phone sometimes 3 of 4 times a day. I wish they would leave me alone.

I just got a call from a Shawn Morris at this Powell Law Firm for the same thing. Sounds like a bunch of crooks to me. Have no idea what they are talking about, stating I owe them money. It's against the law to call a place of employment. If anyone get's another one tell them you are sending this to a real attorney and the state.

Got a call at work.  Stated it was urgent, left this number and that was it.  I don't like them calling my place of employement.

keep getting calls at work from this number and i dont owe them anything

this so called lawyer's office called and harassed an 80 year old woman and told her he would get his money one way or another. this lady is my mother. I don't owe these people anything.

Got a call at my place of employment and are requesting payment be made in full for a loan I do not recall getting.  I have already been scammed twice by these types of people.

Received a call from Powell Law Office.  This is the same Powell Law Office that uses 855-844-3539

People from Powell Law office called my work and left a message with them. when i called them back, they had the wrong Jessica in their records and said "oh...sorry" and hung up. I dont get it.

got a phone call from powell law office some geneva girl and she said was to call her back .. did not say why...

got a phone message from a Mark Newspom of Powell Law Offices - called back and found a very rude person trying to get more phone numbers from me
