This number is a part of Careers Inc, which is a verification service
for employers for hundreds of different job boards. I'm a
representative of Careers and would like to clarify why you're getting
a text from us on this number.

We receive a large quantity of resumes for thousands of positions
across the country, and our job is to verify that your contact
information is correct. Employers use Careers because they get such a
massive response to job postings. It's very hard for any company to
sort through interested applicants - people are not reachable, their
phone numbers are disconnected, or their email is invalid or typo'd on
their resume. This leads to frustration on both ends, where applicants
receive no response and employers get bad contact info for an
otherwise qualified individual.

Careers attempts to contact applicants to confirm that their
information is correct - if it is not, then we help them to correct it
and update the employer on the applicant's status.

We do not ask for any sensitive information such as SSN. We do not
charge for our service. We will never ask you for anything beyond
confirming what's already in your resume on file.

Career-network.com is a bogus site that when you apply to a job through Craigslist you are directed to multiple bogus websites under the banner of career-network.com to fill out your personal information including your address and what cell phone carrier you use as well as whether you own your own business and what your credit score is etc.

Another thing is that I took my wife's advice and did NOT provide the 3 references that they had the nerve to ask for. I mean of course on an interview, I would be more than happy to provide the manager/recruiter with the references. But, they asked for names, email addys and phone numbers.

Nothing is ever heard back from them. The email you respond to on Craigslist always has a firstname.lastname@gmail.com. As you can see this is in all cities. I'm looking in NYC. This is really frustrating as I am looking for a genuine job and have wasted my time several times filling out these bogus forms for what sounded like good jobs.

THEY ARE SCAMMERS -----

I got a text message on my cell, the display said from "56030" where there would be a regular telephone number that the message came from. I was a bit weirded out by this. The message said: "Hi (my name), call me about the (job title) you have applied for 8773213363. "
Well, I am at this point desperate to find a job, so I called back on the 877 number. I spoke to someone who already knew my name, he introduced himself as a verification specialist and he was just verifying my contact info before forwarding my resume to the employer. He said that was all he needed to do, and that any further contact would come from the employer and not from him or Careers Inc. He then wished me god luck, and good day. Nice guy. The whole call lasted just a couple of minutes, and I wasn't asked for any info that was not already publicly available, so I don't think there is anything to worry about if you also get this text message. In fact, might be about to land an interview for a job you have applied for.
