This collection agency with First Data Global Leasing, credit card machine thru Bank, Suntrust, has called many times, demanding, theating, etc. recording machine. This was turned back to the firm over one year ago, and the matter was filed in a bankruptcy. I advised them of the calls, but the still call.  I have notified the Federal Courts about the issues, but they continue to call.

The phone has been ringing all morning about every 8 minutes they are calling my new cell phone it seems they are looking for a Judith Hind, it seems that she had this phone number before Koodo gave it to me. Not sure how to handle this it is sure awful to have it constantly ringing when you have an important call coming . Just rang again ? I answered and asked to be taken off this call list . This I had done about a month ago  also .   Whatnext

I got a phone call from this number. No company listed, just "toll free call". I did call back, got options for English-speaking and Spanish-speaking, but NO CLUE who the company is. I think that is horribly RUDE. Not to mention when I did answer, nobody was there. When I don't answer, nobody bothers to leave a message. Obviously NOT an important call to worry about, but horribly RUDE.

Just got a call from 877-403-0657.  I spoke to someone.  They asked me for the number they called so I gave it to them.  Then the guy said this was an attempt to collect a debt followed by my number is not in the system.

Thanks for wasting 5 minutes of my precious time.

Funny....they keep calling here too and I have never had Verizon OR Time Warner.

That unnecessary annoyance is what pisses people off.

They told me it was Time Warner Cable calling about my Time Warner Cable.
I find it odd, because that isn't their number, but the ID says TWC.  TWC support is open 24/7, last I checked, and when I tried, my number not on file, and their support office closed.  I just gonna keep ignoring them in this case.

We just got a land line a few months ago.  Even though we listed our number immediately on the do not call list, we keep receiving voicemails from an automated system at AFNI looking for some random person in an effort to collect a debt.  Today, they actually left a message for my husband.  When he called them back, they told him that they were trying to collect a debt on behalf of Verizon.  Knowing this couldn't be true, asked the AFNI rep to provide him with the Verizon account number with the outstanding balance.  He then called Verizon.  Verizon verified that there was no account for my husband with that number and that his actual account was paid in full.  My husband called AFNI back.  The rep this time around tried to give some bogus information.  They gave my husband the DOB and address that supposedly belonged to him...but it didn't.  My husband told the rep that he'd like to pay his "debt" in person, and the rep gave him the following business address: 404 Brock Drive, Bloomington, IL 61702.  He then asked the AFNI rep to remove our number from their call list.  Whatever their game is, they are undoubtedly scamming millions of poor people.  Don't be one of them!  Be sure to verify the supposed debt before you give AFNI any information!

Received a telephone call from this number several times looking for someone who doesn't live here and it's become rather annoying now. Told them time and time again that the person they want does not live here but they still call.  Something needs to be done about this.

They left a message saying they were attempting to collect a debt.  However, I've paid to have my phone number nonpublished since I first got it, I have borrowed no money and used no credit cards since then, and have not given my phone number to any of my former creditors.  I'm not the do-not-call list also.  There is just something wrong about this.

ANG, There's never a need to get upset beacause it doesn't do anyone any good. The fact of the matter here is that most people are exactly that "Ignorant".  This doesn't mean they are "Dumb" but rather they are unaware of many things.  Obviously educating oneself is the key to being a little smarter.  The only way folks will understand their situations is to make sure they look up their own CREDIT REPORT.  This is a huge factor to help rectify any situation of owing a debt or not.  As we all know, this also drives our financial life and will keep those with less than perfect credit from moving forward in life.  Times are terrible and if we (and i mean that collectively) want to make a better life we all need to help a bit with education.

This is a legitimate company used by Verizon.  It's apparent no matter what people, on both sides of the playing field, are talking it can get heated even when the bill is legitimate.  My advise is to keep up with your CREDIT REPORT and ensure you have the right information.  If you have never received a "Bill Notice" from AFNI I would suggest you ask them to send one to you so you have record of it.  Then make the payment from that bill.  It's hard who to trust these days but this is the only way you can be safe and secure from Identiy Theft.  Personal Identifiable Information is no joke and can be stolen at a whim. Be safe and watch out for yourself because goodness knows, no one else will.

Did I say anywhere in that post that I owed this bill?  Let me clarify since you seem to be making your own assumptions (you know what they say about assumptions).  I like the others listed DO NOT OWE ANY MONEY.  But in my instance the ignorant person who calls me doesnt seem to accept the fact that I have only had this number for a little over a year, thats when I moved to my current state.  Let me also explain to you that I had Verizon at my previous residence, and have verizon now, so if I owed them money I dont think they would be willing to give me an account.  So yes those are the ones that I play with.  I work in consumer law and am educated on this topic.  Go bother someone else, hey, maybe youre the moron who has been calling because you seem to have assumption issues and denseness of just not getting it.  Please go back to your "would you like fries with that job" and leave me alone.

Automated call looking for my ex.  Called them back and explained the divorce.  Very nice lady took my number off their list.

I don't know why any other posters here "feel" for the people who the calls are intended for.  If you owe someone money, you pay them.  Ang, why don't you pay your debt instead of "play[ing] with the bill collectors".  Knowing your rights...  Your creditors have a right to collect the money you owe them.  You're a jerk.  The scum are the ones who don't pay their damn bills.  I'll help any collection agency if I can.

AFNI is the collection agency that Verizon uses for debts. I owed a balance of roughly $70 that I just (as in 5 minutes ago) paid off through them. I will say that I had initially contacted Verizon to try to pay off this debt, and they told me the debt was transferred to AFNI, and gave me a number to call. A couple of weeks later, I received a letter from them explaining the debt that I was aware of. Tonight I was actually looking for the letter, because I had planned on paying off the balance, and my phone rang with this number, and I was sent to this page after I googled it. As far as I know, they're legit, unless the lady at Verizon was in cahoots with this company.

Same for me. A machine calls looking for someone else and leaves a call back number (877) 403-0657. I've had this number for 4 years. Is this some sort of scam?

I just got called AGAIN from these folks...asking for somone who doesn't live here. I've had this phone number for two years and have never heard of the person they are asking for...and I"m not getting any other calls for her. The best part is: their recorded call says "This message is for <name>. If you are not <name> hang up the phone." Uh-huh. They call ME on MY phone at MY home and don't even have the decency to use a person to verify it is proper person...I'll listen to any damnn call I want to. Of course, now I know that this woman is having debt problems (I feel for her)...my bigger question is: how is this not a privacy violation?

Pure scum.

I have received about a dozen of these phone calls over the past week or so saying it was an attempt to collect a debt.  Problem was the name is not if anybody who lives here or ever did.  I called and they were very nice and made note of it.  I guess because I witched my phone number somewhat recently, this must have been the number of the person who doesn't pay there bills....  The lady on the phone said I would most likely continue to get these calls from other companies as well.  Lesson learned, next time I get a new number, tell the phone company not to give me one from someone that was terminated due to not paying their bill!!!

They call and leave mesages.  From what I have read they are a bottom feeder collection agency.  Check out www.ripoffreport.com or budhibbs.com and see all the stories on there about AFNI.  DONT give them any financial information, make them validate the debt, and call the company with whom you had the alleged debt with....they absolutely hate it when you throw your rights and knowledge at them.  GOOD LUCK AND DONT PUT UP WITH THEM.  Personally I love to play with the bill collectors.

Got call from this number. Reportedly a debt collector identified as AFNI. They left a message on my answering service identifying themselves as such. They did not identify the nature of the debt. Message clearly states an attempt to collect a debt.

Have not received any information in the mail from any company named AFNI.
