Thank you for the detailed posting.  We too received this phone call and were very suspicious.  I will inform our school to let other parents know that it is a scam.

I received the same call just yesterday but it was not an 877 number and it is not from Arizona. The number was 512-547-6937 and the reverse white pages said the number is from Texas, but the recording they left was exactly the same. So glad I found this site. But wow can't believe it's been going on for 2 years.

Try doing what I do. I pick up the phone and if the caller ID says"unknown name", I say to them if they want to be unknown to me than I am unknown to them then I hang up. For the ones that have a poll I tell them I have no opinion and just hang up.

Same thing exactly...with college bound students, I must admit I checked it out...gut said something isn't right. Glad I was able to find these comments before I pursued it further.

I received an unsolicited phone call, and want it to stop. this and all other unwanted calls that I get through out the day, evening and weekends. When will this ever stop! Thank goodness for call ID.

It is a sad statement of the world when people assume something bad of others who are trying to help them.  I have been in the financial services industry for 16 years now and find that while reasonable skepticism is wise , most skeptics are their own worst enemy .  There is a lot of little known and constantly evolving financial information that I will only share with those who appreciate it and are open minded enough to learn it.  What I have found in life is that too much skepticism is a sign of other qualities that do neither of us any good , and I only want to help those who want help.

I received that call today. Didn't recognize the phone number so I let the machine answer. And that was the message I got. My son is in college and too lazy to apply for scholarships, so I know this is bogus!

Got a recorded message about college endowments and asked to press 1 to be contacted to give me more information.  That makes no sense.  After I hung up I googled college endowments and landed here.  Hope I didn't just screw myself over. The number that came up on ID was 1 415 251 9481.

Got a call this evening from this schmuck!  I hate these callers and their imoral parctices.  What comes around goes around and this old gal knows better!

I can't believe they would go to such lengths to market the .com company -- especially since it's for endowment awards. What a shame companies truly have no care about customers, only the bottom line.

message on my answering machine from phone #1-415-251-9481 with ID name Novato. man's voice said" We respect your request to withdraw your student and will notify the colleges to select another candidate if you'd more information Endowment awards on the internet."  I figured it was a marketing scam< since my child never applied for this.

I'm not sure who they buy their information from, but it certainly sounds like a scam to me.

Unknown/unsolicited phone call offering credit.  Never done business with this caller and have absolutely no intention to.  I just want these kind of phone calls stopped.  My phone number is a registered DO-NOT-CALL number.  Shouldn't caller be subjected to government fines?

I received a call from 877-463-8938 on Jan 29th stating the same as above:

"We respect your request to withdraw your student and will notify the colleges to select another candidate. If you want more information go to endowmentawards.org."

I thought the call was pretty weird but looked them up online since I do have college bound kids.

Now we know who's been calling and I think if each of use gives him a couple of calls that it might be interesting. Looks like they change their sites monthly. May need to call the general attorneys office in Arizona and let them look into.

We just got the same call. Has anyone tried to trace these guys through their ip address? I might see if we can find them and report them through their website. As I have more than one in college and they didnt state the name that's red flag number one!

receive calls from this number...never pickup.  No message is ever left.  Others seem to think this is a scam, as do I.  Just recvd ANOTHER call as I am typing  this comment...another hangup..no message left.

o.k. People.  I have a SOLUTION to our collective problem of receiving repeated calls from the same number. If you have Comcast as your phone service provider, for no additional cost they offer what they call 'selective call rejection.'  It's fantastic as you log onto your account & you can enter up to 12 separate numbers to reject. You can also accomplish this from your home phone instead of logging in. Wish I had known about this sooner. Here's the link for instruction:
