I got the same text earlier tonight. I'm not calling the 877 number, but I did look up the Chesterfield Credit Union site & it looks like it is part of a phishing scam. This is what the official site had to say:
"Members receiving fraudulent phone calls requesting CFCU credit card information.
Credit union members have received phone calls from a company or person offering to lower their CFCU Visa Card rate to 6%. Members are asked to call a number and give their credit card information over the phone. These calls are not from Chesterfield Federal Credit Union and responding will not result in a lower rate. They are phishing phone calls designed to fraudulently obtain your credit card information."
It looks like the scammers have started sending out text messages as well. I know that in the morning I will be calling CFCU & alerting them of this new development.
If you do have a card through CFCU, be aware that this is NOT the number for this company. The first six digits are the same (877-748), but the last four are not.
I have a feeling that this is one of those companies that if you call them, they will never stop harassing you until you change your phone number. Do not call them from anything other than a pay phone, if you are going to call them!

Txt saying that a CC was deactivated. I called and its a scam. a very BADLY computer generated voice asks for a card number to change a pin number or activate a card. if you press 0 you are disconected.

Got a text from this number earlier today. The text said the company is CU West and my card was deactivated. The text gave the first four digits. I have no card with those digits, in fact, i have no credit cards from a credit union at all. Just wanted to inform people that this scam is also using the name of Credit Union West. BE CAUTIOUS PEOPLE, DON'T BE STUPID AND CALL THEM BACK... BLOCK THEIR NUMBER!!!

I received the same text though it showed it as coming from my cell phone number... but i looked it up and it is indeed a scam, do not reply or call these numbers...

Plus it is incredibly easy for people to sign up for these 877 numbers (and similar formats of them), then have those numbers redirect to the real number, which will never show up on our caller IDs or phone bills.

My mom and I both got a text from them too. Her text actually gave a 4-digit number, saying it was the first 4 digits of the deactivated card. None of her cards started with those numbers!
