WARNING!!!  My mother, who is older, just got a call from this number from somebody claiming to be her grandson, who needed several thousand dollars because he was "in jail in California."  My mother was in the process of getting cash advances from her credit card to pay these P's O. S.

Collection agencies MUST stop calling you if you send the request to cease and desist in writing.  Telling them to drop dead over the phone isn't good enough.  A written letter is needed to make them stop.

Dear Sir
Please CEASE AND DESIST ALL CONTACT WITH ME CONCERNING THIS DEBT.  I do not consider the claim to be valid
Thank you.

the only mistake in AMERICA IS THE DAY UR MOM GAVE BIRTH TO YOU. President Obama came in office when it was all screwed up already thanks to Bush so know what you are talking about. People seem to forget that people started losing jobs when Bush came into office, and then the economy started falling. Companies needed bailouts this was all when BUSH was in office. Obama came in after and is busting his a** trying to fix it, and tose of you guys who are just looking at his skin color instead of what he is trying to do to save America is so blinded that you guys will not bak him up.. You are making AMERICA WORST WITH YOUR HATRED..

Received a call from a secondary 877 number (877-858-0221) it traces back to this company in New York state. Advanced Recovery Collections 2423 Hyde Park Niagara Falls, NY 14305. This is a problematic credit collection agency, which violates the law, etc. you may find more information about them here: http://www.budhibbs.com/collectorpages/empire_recovery.htm and also a former business filing in Nevada wherein Nevada revoked their business license.

Head Debt Collectors:
Vincent C. Bianco, Debt Collector
Anthony LaGambina, Debt Collector
Rodney A. Giove, Attorney NYS Bar#4011730
Jason J. Cafarella, Attorney, NYS Bar#4326062

Most of the calls you receive are managed by a Kim Davis. Send a cease and desist letter to them that outlines the fact you do not want to be contacted unless they can actually validate a debt.

Hope this helps everyone.

Well if this is a collection agency, then I guess they can keep calling. I'm out of work, collecting no unemployment benefits, my home is in foreclosure, 3 creditors are threatening law suit.

I honestly don't know what to tell anyone.  Can't pull money out of a dried turnip.  I had a credit score of nearly 800 three years ago, but no work has put a toll on everything I own.  I've sold furniture, a car and other personal belongings and have very little left but trying to hold on.  All I need is a job, and I keep applying.  Gee, everyone loves me but I'm still unemployed.  OBAMA--one big a** mistake America.

This damn company keeps calling and leaving their number with a thousand number. So I called and wanted to know who the call was for. A Mr. James told me it's for my son. He told me that if my son didn't call, then he was going to jail and that it was about a fraud case. I told him that my son no longer lives here (he's 23) and to stop calling here. I also asked him what the company name was. He said ACR. Let's see if he stops calling!

they have called us REPEATEDLY over a debt collection for this man who CLAIMS to be my brother.  He started calling us several years back just after my father died (after having paid to find our number thru an online search).  We assumed then he was after money.  He never got anywhere with us and after awhile we started rec'ving calls from those "check and go" type of loan places.  he was actually using us as a reference!!! not only that but he was claiming our address as his own!!!!

needless to say this ACR company must be trying to collect on a loan that he DID manage to get. All of the loan companies who contacted us were told be our family that he is someone we do not know, NOR would we ever loan money to him EVER.  And they all for the most part respectfully said they'd take our name off their reference list and make a note that he DID NOT reside at our address.  Clearly, someone didn't call us wherever he managed to get money from....and now we are being harassed constantly by this ACR company.

we hit the key pad like they said so as to speak to someone and explained the whole situation to the man on the line.  He refused to consider what was being said and demanded the number of someone who DID talk to this fake relative.  He said (completely missing the situation) that just because WE wanted to cut off family ties that not everyone felt that way (?!) adn surely someone still talked to him.

and then, to add to the bizarre take on things, he got very rude and told us he KNEW that this "Max" was living at this address and he'd keep calling us till he got him!!!

we're sending a letter like Randy recommended and then contacting our local news station who investigates and solves these sorts of bad business practices.

I keep getting calls from this number, and always a voice mail answers asking me to hold for a representative.  They call me 5 to 6 times per day, and they leave a case number in the thousands. I answered a couple of times and they hang up. I want them to stop calling me.

Thank you very much for this info.  My friend used me as a credit reference years ago on this car loan.  I am no longer friends with this guy, ie, a***ole, but they keep calling me looking for him. Most of the creditors that I have talked to have honored my request by phone, but ACR I guess does not.

This company's info is as follows:

Advanced Credit Recovery
2423 Hyde Park Blvd
Niagara Falls, NY 14305-3235
Local:     716-297-1674
Fax:       716-297-1684
Toll Free: 877-858-9985

According to the Federal Debt Recovery Act, if you send them a letter (I recommend certified with a return receipt requested) stating your phone number(s) and ask them not to call. They must suspend calling the phone number. A letter is the only way to do this. They do not have to honor verbal requests.

Also got the nearly incomprehensible "echo effect" stuttering message.  Some about "file" and "case number", the speaker was using a "manly gruff" voice but the recording simply left it funny.  It  also apparently started yammering before my "away" message finished (wait for the beep, idiots).

From the gist of what little was intelligible, I'm assuming its a bottom feeder agency trying to make profit off of a long dead debt, which is interesting since I don't have such a thing.

My caller block list is starting to look like my "ignore" list in online games I play, there are so many idiots out there.

Whomever this is, its an automated call on my VM; I am guessing at the 877- prefix because the automated has a problem and theh prefix is never given, just the 7 digit phone number.
