Do not send them another penny. They have probably reset the last activity date on your account because you sent them a payment. This resets the debt at its original amount and means that your debt is now reset for 7 years from the last activity in Jan. Of 2014. This gives them the right to keep harassing you. If you have a settlement agreement in writing from them, then you should be sending them only registered correspondence through the mail and require a signature so you know they got the money.  They will not send you a bill each month. They should have sent you 4 payment coupons when you signed the agreement to pay. Also, never deal with these bottom feeders over the phone.Refuse to talk to them on the phone and insist that they communicate in writing.Do EVERYTHING in writing through registered or better yet, certified mail.

I, too, have received numerous calls from the Van Ru Credit Collection Corporation using the number 877-891-9207. This has gone on for months. When I call back the number, I always get a "busy" dial tone.
MY SOLUTION #1:  (hope it works): I filed a complaint with the "Consumer Financial Protection Bureau" today; it is An official website of the United States Government: www.consumerfinance.gov.  I spoke with an agent [(855) 411-CFPB (2372)] who will take appropriate action against Van Ru on my behalf.
NEXT STEP (#2) IF SOLUTION 1 DOES NOT WORK: http://www.fschulmanlaw.com/877-891-9207.phtml
This law firm will represent you FREE of CHARGE against the Van Ru Corp. Their services to you are free because the FDCPA requires the Collection Agency to pay their fees. AND, Van Ru may be required to compensate you for harassment.
I posted their website so you may file/contact them online.

Do you think you might have been scammed? Did you ask them to validate the debt before you sent your money to them first? If I were you I would call Discovery Card and get info about who they sent their bills to after they write them off. By the looks of it you will probably not hear from them ever as they got your money not to mention the fact you paid by check your bank account number, name and address too. You should put fraud alerts on your credit reports; alert your bank about this also and change you bank account number too.

Van Ru made contact with me about a debt settlement where I had a bill with Discover Card.I signed a deal with them to pay the debt off with 4 installment of 213 a month.I sent them a check 1-14-14 and have not heard from them since.
They put a memo of 4050291D821.I do not know what that mean.It was an agreement that I pay this monthly.A bill has not been submitted to me where I got credit for the 213.00.The check was cashed that I sent in January.
What is the deal with them?

Of course these posters work for them.  I suppose that a few may do searches and find these sites but mostly folks know about the number because either they get called or they work there.  I suppose they post like that to justify their pathetic employment.

I actually had the same thing happen to me.  I noticed years ago that I had strange activity coming from a previous insurance company, somebody was submitting bills that were being denied as I had moved onto another insurance company through my job.

Sure enough, about 3 years later I started getting calls from a collection agency demanding payment for a service I never received.
These types of errors along with them getting the wrong number or just calling neighbors to track people down are very common.

Folks should never help these people, they are the real deadbeats not the unfortunate folks who are having economic problems.

I just received a letter in the mail from this van ru credit corporation saying I owe $345 dollars for an emergency room visit. I have not been to the E.R. in pretty close to 10 years now, and when I did go I was covered by my dad's insurance. I have never gotten a letter saying I owed money to anybody for a medical bill, nor I have gotten any calls. Another thing, they say this is from Tupelo Emergency Group LLC which is a legit agency, but I know that the hospital sends their debts owed through Tupelo Service Finance. I'm concerned this is the same scam just a new approach because like I said, its been close to 10 years that I have been to the E.R. or anything, and I have never owed for a medical bill..ever. What do you other people think of this..is it a scam? Oh, and when i tried to call they wanted me to leave my name address and SSN on the answering machine...

have receieved several missed calls from this number, i finally called the number back to see who was calling me. . . they asked for a woman with a different name and i told them they had the wrong number and to please remove my number. . .they continued to call. .. i've received a total of 15 calls from them, and five times have asked them to stop calling me. . . most people i've talked to have had a southern accent, the last woman told me the company was "van root", but i'm not quite sure I understood what she said exactly

Lady with a Southern accent called from this toll free number.   She seemed to think my number was my sister's, but she has a different last name. They gave her first, middle initial, and last name.  I suspect a phishing scam or a credit bureau maybe, because they knew her maiden name.

They kept calling my home without leaving a message. They look or try to recruit their members. Their identities are unknown and considering risky to American communities since many people complained about them. The Government and Homeland Security must do something because we do not know what their next move since they are risky and unknown to America.

Pay you bills and they wont call. They dont buy debt. Your company that owe money too has paid them to collect on their behalf. They dont buy zombie debt, that guy doesnt know what he is talking about. Also, if youd like to stop the calls because you cant pay your debt, call them admit your over your head and ask the address to send a cease and desist letter. Just google it for the verbiage. They legally cannot call you after that.

They called my house again and asked for a peron that lived in my house three years ago. I was shoked to hear his name because i never talked to that guy for three years since he moved to California. I guess they checked with DMV and they found that this person got hi driver L sent to my home addres at that time. It is very strange to get this information from a government agency! No other explanation or reasoning i have that else where they had my address related to the name they called.

The caller asked my husband to speak with me. They just asked for me by my first name.  I then got on the phone and immediately asked who it was and why they were calling me.  They identified themselves as Van Ru Credit Agency and that they were allowed to call their debtors basically anytime they wanted.  I advised that I did not have a card thru WAMU and the caller kept insisting that I was who they were calling & the caller also asked to confirm the last four digits of my SSN (which were way off).  They were looking to collect a payment for Washington Mutual, which I know I didn't owe.  I advised them that I would be reporting them & that I knew it was fraud.

These a**les, practice whats called "spoofing" the caller-ID. Simply translated, its legal to purchase a calling card, whereas you are able to call an 800#, enter a description youd like to have displayed on the caller ID, enter the number you wish the caller-ID to show, and finally enter the destination(YOU)number. While you may think its a legit business calling you, THINK AGAIN and AGAIN. These are CROOKS! Thus far, they are calling with the following identifying pretexts:

Caller ID Display:  "DISCOVER", "DISCOVER FINANC"

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE A**LES ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!
