Did you read the post above yours (by DON'T SHARE INFO UNLESS THEY VERIFY YOU, 17 Apr 2013) about scammers spoofing this Bank of America number?  Do you know what "spoofing" means?

This number is NOT a scam. I applied for a Bank of America home loan and this is the number they called me from to complete my application.  Some people on here go overboard!

I too filled out an online application. After not hearing anything for two days I called them and spent almost an hour online with a mortgage broker. Now I am getting daily calls from this number and they never leave a message. I wish they would stop !

Definitely Bank of America.  An also in the process of doing a mortgage.  Can't stand talking with them though.  They are in a call center very close together, lots of background noise, and difficult to hear-"what is your annual income? What? Say that again!"  Really should be better service for most people's largest purchase!

Dont share information with anyone who calls you from this number unless they verify who you are, and you verify WHO THEY ARE TOO!!!!!!

I just contact B of A and people are SPOOFING this number via a caller ID change. You think that the 888 number is a valid B of A number but what is showing on your caller ID is misleading. They steal B of A's 888 and send that number to your caller ID when in reality it is not the number they are calling from.

One way to safe guard yourself is to ask for the extension of the person that called you and redial the 888-265-3609 number and if the extension works it is a legitimate B of A employee.

They can SPOOF the number incoming, but the real 888 number will always call the correct 888 number back.

I believe there is a leak of the customer data from Bank of America. I just contact BAC for a loan and 30 minutes later I got this call from a lady. I am sure she is not from BAC since I have already set up everything with BAC loan office. This is criminal and police & BAC should take an action.

I was expecting a call from BofA for Home Mortgage today.  Well this number popped up and I missed the call.  Reasearch shows.....

http://www.landsafe.com/landsafe/index.html

This is who the number belongs to, which is appears to be a third party to BofA.

"Besides being able to connect directly to us via the LandSafe Web site, we have partnered with a number of businesses including MORNet Plus, Bank of America Home Loans Correspondent Lending Website, Bank of America Home Loans Wholesale Lending Website, BCE Emergis, Day One, CALYX Point, INTEGRA Destiny and others. This allows us to create a custom solution for any new customer."

Guess I will go close my accounts at BofA since I only filled out a BofA application for prequalification.  I didn't ask for a third party.

It must be a scam - if you call that number, one of the automated options is "if you are a BoA customer, enter your 9-DIGIT Social Security number now".  9 DIGITS??  Are they kidding?  Since when does a bank ask for anyone's full SS#?  They always ask for the last 4 digits, of course.

So how do I get them to not call again?  Their caller id comes up as a blocked number!

I assumed that this was a debt collection agency.  I have no accounts or anything with Bank of America, and I haven't completed or even started any applications lately, either.

Legit BofA number. I filled out their online application and they called me back twice in a half hour.  No worries, although why they DON'T leave a message is beyond me. Poor business practice.

I was surprised to get calls from this number on ALL days of the week.. even Sunday.  Really horrible stuff.  Same story as everyone else - checked into a bofa promotion, didn't even go through with it.. and now they won't stop calling.  Thankfully it's my google voice number so I can block it easily.. gotta love GV!

Please remove my name (joann_liao@yahoo.com) and all related information from your list.
Cancel my on-line application ASAP and do NOT run my credit report.  this morning about 8:40am 12/12/2011, I also called one of your representative to cancel my online application,

Alan Trinh from BOA, he is my Loan Officer who is taking care.

Thanks.

I think this is BofA.  I do business with them but did not ask for a refi.  I filled out their contact me form and used this number for a call back.  Maybe it will tie up their system if everyone tried this.

Got a call through my Google voice #, so I know it's some scam through the web. Anytime I order something online I use the Google #. Google is supposed to have software that blocks these calls.

They are scammers!!

Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru.
But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies.
From Wikipedia:

Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.

It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!
Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!

Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!

Same than other people, filled out the online BoA home loans form. Got a phone call 30 minutes later. The agent asked me to give SSN over the phone. I asked BoA to tell me if that was legal. Waiting for an answer. Any input?
