For us, It was CHECK N GO used this company to process the debit from our bank account. Woke up with alerts from our bank about $611.23 has been debited by " PAYMYBILL"  800-8206829 VA....We talked to check n go last night and authorized the payments, but they were SUPPOSED to call us first thing this morning to make sure the check we had deposited had cleared (large amount) but they didnt keep their word those greedy b*****ds but thank GOD the check had cleared NOW WE WILL NEVER ASK FOR ANOTHER PETTY LOAN AGAIN! DO NOT DO IT PEOPLE! Anyways, just wanted to let you guys know if you see this companys name on your bank statement, then you most likely authorized SOME company to debit your account at sometime recent. This company is just a company that other companies use to get their money...the middle man, an innocent bystander. I called it and spoke to a very nice woman who explained it all to me and how they operate.

Unfortunately they will continue to call and harass you stating you owe money and that you will be served papers or go to jail. The company goes by several fake names ACS, UCF...I can't even begin to name them. Simply hang up or don't answer. They can also spoof numbers and be able to show any number as the incoming call on your phone, even your own number as they did to me. They have hundreds of numbers they call from and change them often. You may need to change your phone number at some point. They may stop calling for a period of time, but it will start up again at some point. This scam has been going on for over 4 years, see the FBI fraud page for more info. Best of luck to you.

Google search "ACS Scam" for more information.

"No one should send money based on a phone call with no written proof!"

Exactly. And, you do NOT need their "permission" to send them a debt validation letter, demanding proof of the debt they are dunning you about.

Go here to obtain the template for the letter and read more on your consumer protection rights under the FDCPA: http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/

Continue to get harrassing calls from this company who will not give any information. They say I owe a debt but refuse to send me anything in writing as to this debt. I asked for written confirmation because as far as I know, this is a scam just trying to get me to send them money. I don't send money to everyone who calls me up and says I owe them! No one should send money based on a phone call with no written proof! I also looked up this company, they don't even belong to the BBB!

These calls are coming incecessantly. All day, any time of day or night. Even on weekends. Called to say I don't have that number anymore. "Lacy" answered the phone both times I called back and was very rude. Said she knew it to be a "good number" for so-an-so. Told her I am not that person(s) and that I just got the phone number. She really pissed me off, so I called back for her supervisor name and mailing address. I'm sending it certified, return/receipt and give them a piece of my mind, not that I have that much of it left to spare! Whoever this person is, they don't deserve to be irritated by constant phone calls from rude people. Can I get an "AMEN"?

You people "Vengroff Williams & Associates" should be ashamed of your selves you called my home and upset a 6yr old. Way to go "reputable" company. You know prior to this action on your part I would have been willing to at least talk to you. Now you have a much bigger problem than the fact that I owe your client money.... a few things. this number called today, looking for people that don't live here. if these slugs knew so much, they'd know who does or doesn't live somewhere. a different place called a family member a few days ago, saying they were going to put out an arrest warrant if we didn't call them. turns out our ssn's didn't match the number they called about, but then this dbag rattles off the first 5 of my ssn, and claims i have bad checks from years ago, and that he "talked to the prosecutor" when he put me on hold, and that the prosecutor agrred to not do anything if i pay a certain $ amount. no prosecutor is going to accept money over the phone. we got two numbers for these idiots to call. i googled one of the numbers yesterday, and they had two ads selling puppies. both ads have since been removed, but you can still see it on google. when do lawyers sell pupps from their offices? i called them again, and the guy said "hello, law office". something is beyond fishy.

They keep calling my phone looking for Tommy Hendricks and I don't know anybody by that name.  I don't have any outstanding debt and my bills are PAID IN FULL.  So for scumbags like this, whom I have neither the time nor inclination to speak to, I now use youmail.com and direct their calls quite appropriately.  It's a great service, you should check it out.  Kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy when you get these scumbags calls redirected.

Quite amusing how the debt collection companies come and post on these blogs now.

Not only do they try to bully you at home, on your cell, at work but they think they can bully you here on a blog where people are trying to find out why they are calling in the first place.

To the debt collectors, quit telling people to answer and resolve the issue. I can't tell you how many times I have answered the phone and a collection agency is looking for my ex wife (ex from 15 years ago) or they are callling looking for somebody that has the same name as I do. We are not obligated to help you find somebody or give you the correct information.

To the consumer. This is really easy, if you don't owe anything don't answer the phone. That is what the answering machine is for.

If you think you owe someting then check your credit report. Guess what, if there is nothing on your credit report than they are trying to collect on a debt that is very very old. Guess what? They can't put extermely old debts on your credit report. Of course they will say they can (not legally). I had this happen one time on a phone bill that was 15 years old. I had filed this debt on a bankrupcy but rather than call the collection agency and fax them the bankruptcy papers, I disputed the date of the debt. You see creditors will charge off or write off the debt, they will then sell the debt to one of these agencies, years later the collection agency will file it on your credit report like it's some type of new debt. Sound like double jeporady doesn't it. Well guess what, you can disput the orginal date of the debt and if it's past 7 years or in some cases 10 years, the credit reporting agencies will remove it from your report. It's free to disput a debt.

How do I know all this? It took a long time to get on my feet after filing bankruptcy 15 years ago. I know this much, I have been responsible with paying my bills every since. So when a collection company calls, I dont answer the phone. They don't care if your obligated to pay the debt anymore. They hope that by threatening you that you will pay for something you don't even have ot pay for. After all, they are in business to make money and the only way to get it is if you pay.

Just my thoughts.

I have gotten several calls from 888-549-7791 on my PREPAID cell phone in the last few weeks.  I have yet to answer the calls, however they have left messages asking for a Michelle Ziegler. I'm not this person. I have had my same cell # for 6+ years. I had received calls a year or so back I believe it might even be for this same person. I called them back then and told them I'm not her and they have a wrong #. I just did the same this time. One thing I 'd like to note was how rude the gal was that answered the phone and was claiming to remove my number from their list or whomevers account they were calling about. Verry Annoying!

If you get a call from this number, it is a scam.  Do not give them your information.  They called me today to requesting personal information.  The girl said they were trying to collect a debt on a work uniform that wasn't turned in after employment was terminated.  I have never worked in an environment that required a uniform.  My husband is a Mortgage Banker and just pulled my credit to see if anything had appeared on my credit report.  There are no collections, or derogatory remarks on my credit report whatsoever to indicate that someone is claiming I owe them money.

The caller used my maiden name which I haven't used in over 9 years, and cited a home address I haven't had in over 6 years.  I would advise against cooperating with this bogus company.

The regulatory agency that issues their license is the Florida Office of Financial Regulation.  I have filed a complaint.  If you feel a complaint should be filed as well, the appropriate avenue is:

https://real.flofr.com/Complaints/FinanceForm.aspx

If enough people file complaints, it will be difficult for the Office of Financial Regulation to renew their license.

You are right you cant get blood from a turnip but this is not the case here.  They are trying to get you to pay for your bill.  You think because there are "economic hardships" going around that gives you the right to pay for your auto loan, cell phone bill, cable bill, and all your other little things and not pay for your previous commitments you made?  Im sure this debt has been passed around to three of four companies before landing on their lap and you dodged all the other companies like you are attempting to do now under the guise of "economic hardship"  If you want the teacher can enlighten you a little more.  Pay your bills stop complaining life sucks and your down on your luck.  if luck is what you go buy then i suggest saving your dollar and not playing lotto.
