I received this and do not know why.

This number calls me multiple times a day, EVERYDAY! This has been going on for over a year! I asked them to stop calling and they WILL NOT!

Recently got a new phone number, and almost immediately started getting calls from this number. They were looking for someone named Bisharo (couldn't understand last name.) Told them he/she wasn't here and that this was a new number. They promised to remove my number, we'll see.

They claimed to be "Great Lakes (couldn't understand,)" and I assume it was a debt collector. Also called from 209-858-3919.

It is a legit company, they already have the date of birth and ssn, just asking for u to verify, once verified they let u know that ur loans are in default and they're trying to help by offering a repayment plan, as long as payments are on time and paperwork is returned within 2 days, you won't get the calls anymore

These are calls from Kaplan University.  Evidently, at some point, you submitted your phone number to them because you responded to a request to further your education.  I just received the same call.

I'll be adding to  the list of  folks who have started lawsuits. They want information from you like who you are but wont give you information when you ask.  When they ask for another number my daughter could be reached on I would tell them 1-800-kiss my a**.

And to add to this remark I am a co-signer on all the school loans my children have and no one called me or notified me by mail for payment.  And why isn't the company sending mail on letter head with their companies name on it?  What are they trying to hide.  I did not bring my chilren up to make payments to stuff by receiving a phone call.

Well Frankly, I am tired of the phone calls.  They are looking to speak to my daughters but they keep calling my house.  That is a lawsuit for harrassment because I have told them to stop calling my house.

I just dont answer funky numbers. Had this one myself a few times was just looking up the area code and came across this.

I'm on a do not call, they have removed me 3 times (supposedly)... Check these guys out on LinkedIn ... This is the head guys third company (that he lists)... Looks like he's been doing this a while. Debt collectors trolling for information about their victims, which is illegial btw... Especially when they tell you how much the party owes (I asked how much the debt was to see if I could pay it so they would stop calling and they actually did).

I partially agree with you, however, collection people regularly violate the law.  They don't care because there is no agency that enforces the law.  When you complain you are told it's a civil matter and to file suit... they don't care because they know if you can't afford your bills you can't afford an attorney.  They are not supposed to call cell phones either and FEDERAL LAW (Fair Debt collections Act) does NOT allow any phone calls once you tell them you won't pay/and tell them to stop calling you.  They can only legally send letters after that... How much you want to bet they still call?   These idiots are calling me and want me to give them my dob and ss number before discussing my account with me... like that will ever happen.   They are telling me I am about to default.... However I make auto payments through my bank and they get $125 A MONTH but they can't find it... I AM about to sue.

this company called me just now asking for Bill Huddle, I was curious and decided to call her back. The lady told me she was with Student Outreach Solutions, and proceeded to ask for my social security Number. I was more than shocked when she asked for my social fully knowing I was not Bill Huddle. She said she can look up to see if they handle any accounts with them and said that is all she was legally aloud to say. She then evaded my questions and hung up on me. I am also on the DONOTCALL Registry.

same number called me and said they were hired from chamberlain school of nursing to speak with me about paying my school loans late, which i never had. they wanted my date of birth also. i called the school and my school loan carrier today and they both said not to give them any information. the school nor the school loan lender did not hire them.

received recorded message saying to call back 888-843-9002 in regard to personal information from Strayer University - when I called back they asked for date of birth and address to be verified - i refused and they wouldn't say who they were - they are not Strayer University

It appears that this company has a new number and a female who said her name was Mary. The person she was looking for wasn't home and she wouldn't discuss anything with me. The number that she called me from and left as a call back is (800) 436-5248.

This number keeps calling my house...I have no deliquent loans or anything and they call and leave this phone number..How can I get them to stop.

i used to work for grc in NY. and it is a legitimate collection agency for student loans. once the loan goes into default, the loan holder sells off the loans to an outside agency. these agencies are who general revenue collects for. they offer repayment options to get your loan out of default and off of your credit report. they ask for either your DOB (which doesnt give any personal info away, bc what can you do with someones bday) or the last 4 of your ssn. None of that info is incriminating, and just an fyi, they already have the info, they are just asking you to confirm (yes or no). it is against federal law to give out any personal financial info without verifying one of these pieces of info.  they are not employed directly from the university you attended, which is why many of you say that the university has never heard of them. and GRC is a part of Sallie Mae. They have a legitimate website that you can check out online. Its not hard to find, and many of you out there with defaulted student loans would probably benefit from calling them back and making arrangements, since many of the programs they offer, will completely erase the defaulted loan off of your credit report. Student loans in default are the worst thing to come up on you credit report, other than bankruptcy. and legally, they can call you between the hours of 8am-9pm. they also have the right to call your family members or friends to get in touch with you. and ultimately, once they find your employment info, bc it is a federal loan, they can garnish 15% of your paycheck and your yearly tax return. just a little info for all of you out there that thinks its a fake company trying to scam you. it is 100% legit.

they are calling me landline so many times and it's getting really annoying. i had to leave my job and so i'm jobless and they probably will ask for repayment for loans when i am unable to do that right now. very annoying and they should at least be more legit than just an automated voice message. that'll look suspicious. my mom answered the phone and she started yelling at me for them keeping calling me and demanded me to call them back. GRC has been calling and leaving an automated "Call us back" message for a person who I have never hear of.  I called this 888 number back and was asked for my name.  I refused to give anything but my calling phone number.  The operator was nice and when I asked for a manager's number, I was given a name and a number.  I was not too nice, but I did let this operator know I was impressed by his professional attitude.  I may call the manager just to ensure that I don't start getting these calls again.

GRC/Kaplan called looking for Chante - no even close to my real name - .  I've had the same phone number for 22 years and no "Chante" has ever lived with me.  In order to flag the acccount with a wrong phone number, they asked for my SSN.  I refused and asked not to call my number again

I keep getting calls from this number for a person with the name of Amanda.  I keep telling them that she is not at this number.  I have told them this about 10 times. They keep calling about 4 to 5 times a day.  Finally I got a person by the name of Katie at this number, and was told she would take my number out of the system.  Let's see if this works.

I get calls from this number all the time and I was going to call them back but after reading all this...hell no! Some guy called and left his extension, this was at like 7pm PST, he told me he was in the office and to call him right back....yeah right like that is going to happen. thanks for all the post, I will definitely not be calling these a**holes back :P

Ya someone called my job asking if my name was Shelly with the last 4 digits of my social security number. Said he was looking for proof of employment and if that was me. I called back and they wanted to argue with me. This is some Bulls**t!

I get at least one call a day from these people. They are mentioning Kaplan university. I have no connection to this college. Who can I call to complain and who can tell them to stop calling me.
