Non English speaking male called and said he was hired by Capitol One. Wanted SSN and other info that a collector would not ask for. Scam?

ya a**hole even call me on sundays. there has to be a law for this kind of harrsment. capital crooks.

Capital One calls from numerous states and Like Chase and others uses foreign companies to pursue debts and collections. The ones we see most in Wisc are Texas Rhode Island and California. But the number of caller from these have deep East Indian accents so I presume they use a transfer to link into these dometic numbers to look local. Anyway - in this age - with caller ID and sites like this that expose these people - they really dont have much of a chance of hiding anymore. I decided long ago -if I dont recognize the call - I dont answer it. they know who they are calling - I have as much right to know WHO is calling me. IF they don't hide an it says who they are - I consider that someting more than hiding. Note that many times Capital One (AND OTHERS) will show on the caller ID -but they still use these sneaky back door routines too.

My problem is that I want to close my Capital One account, but no way to do I have the money to pay off the bill in full. And I want to close the account because someone within the company is using my information to try and get Skype and another company to the point I've had to replace my card 3 times in 3 months. And trying to get it across that it's fraudalent is not easy. Their fifteen billion calls a day is not going to work for them. Let a debt collector, a real one, call me and I'll pay...but bothering me at all hours of the day, every day? Not gonna happen. And this is one of about 20 numbers I have blocked on my phone. I didn't check my messages for about five days and I had about 21 messages from them..or rather, "Linda."

I keep getting calls from 909-390-4781 & 631-205-0520 & 800-955-6600. If i receive any more of these calls i'm going to turn this company in for harassment.. it's my understanding solicitors are not supposed to call after the hours of 5pm however I am receiving  these calls as late as 8pm. STOP CALLING ME!! I dont even know how you people got my damn number!

I dont get it either. It is insane how frequently they call and I was only one day late for my payment and even after I am still getting these calls. I just ogt 3 in the last 30 mins and it is now 830pm here. I dont have any other cards either so I am not sure why I am still getting calls.

Make a directory on your cell phone and title it collectors. Assign it a non ring tone and forget it.

I just but a Go-Phone and 909-3904781 calls. I googled it since I hoped it was a buddy but found this 800notes.com. It seems like its a bill collector. and like the above I'm getting called from 4 other numbers too. Have a great day all you beautiful people.

I am behind on Cap 1 account.  They are NOT willing to work with me like my other credit card company.  My husband lost his job and we are struggling just to keep a roof over our heads.  It is not like I dont know I have this bill to pay.  Duh!!! They have called me from 4 different numbers and they call about 8-10 times a day.  They try to trick you with calling from different numbers.  I am sick of them.  Turn it in to a collection agency and I will deal with them.  They will have to work out a payment plan that I can afford.  
I did answer this number and when I asked who was calling they hung up on me.  Capital one sucks!!!!!!

They just don't get it. We have filed bankruptcy and they want us to get another card! We have not used cards for two years. We would like to pay it off but on a fixed income and their "good deal" 27% never could. Sooo "Linda" should stop calling. It is just a bother nothing more or less. Bottom line they will not get a payment until they step up to the table and work with us. Many good people would like a little room.

I'm unemployed, but get a very VERY small amount of money every week. So I paid every week a forth of the payment due. That wasn't good enough and they charged me a late fee. Then I paid every week a third of the payment due so that the total was paid every three weeks, they still found away to charge me a late fee.

I'm not paying any more. I have no expectation of buying a house. Screw my credit rating. I'm not paying these b*****ds another dime.

What if we all stopped paying? I've paid the principle by now, now it's just late fees, interests, over the limit fees, (even though I haven't used the card for two years!).

I don't answer any phone number I don't recognize. I turn of the phone when I want to sleep. They can call all they want, It can go to a collection service.

i've received their phone call for numerous times over the month......and they left the same voicemail over and over..anyone know how to get rid of it?

This is capital one, it is their collections dept. They use auto dialers and call from over 47 different toll and non-toll numbers. If you don't answer sometimes automated system leaves a message, sometimes a rep that can't speak American leaves an UGLY message, and sometimes there's no message. If you let your account go 90 days past due they'll close your account and farm it out to an outside collections agency, which is actually better, as most of those DON'T use auto-dialers, are American born, and don't call nearly as much as Capital One does. They keep asking what's in my wallet, when what they need to be asking, if they were smart, is what's in my Gun Safe...because it's certainly not a Mountain of cash to pay them with... stupid t**** head wearing, cow worshiping, pork fearing terrorists.

this is capital one.  i am 10 days late and already informed them that we are filing bankruptcy and gave them my attorney's name/phone number. it is 2:22pm here and i've already received 11 calls from the same number. i am changing my cell phone number and my attorney is notifying them to cease and assist all contact or evidentally we can sue them?  the 1st person i talked to was REALLY ugly and said that i have to keep paying until my bankruptcy is discharged. HELLO???I don't have the money-that is why we are filing bankruptcy.

It is Capital One. I have a Google Voice number and average 20+ calls per day from them using some 40+ different phone numbers. Do yourselves a favor and change your Capital One contact information online and direct your calls to another number if you do not want to be bothered.

These people call all day and from different numbers with the same stupid robot recording.

I just got 4 calls from 909-390-4781 within 20 minutes - only once did they leave a message, however, the person's English was horrible so I couldn't understand a single word they were saying.  If it really is Capital One, then this is getting ridiculous with regards to the number of calls I get a day.

Yes it is too capital one-they left me a message about my payment being late and when I called back I got the recording that I had reached capital one card services and that they were closed at that time to call back during regular business hours and they gave me the hours

Capital One also services deliquecies for other credit card companies.  They often DBA as Card Services.

Received call from this number - no info.  Called back and it definitely is Capital One Collections.  I am one payment behind and this is the 8th phone number they have tried calling me from.  I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know and when I call back, I use my work phone so they don't know it is me.

It is April 25 - I received a call from this number.  hard to know if is/is not capital one. if someone received a call yet does not have capital one that does not necessarily mean it is not perhaps a number fronting for more than one robot call source. I do have capital one and have found that they start calling me even before my monthly due date - and when I have paid on time. I am thankful for sites such as this - so "consumers" can communicate and feel empowered again when we are tweaked by corporate finance on a daily basis.
