2nd call for recall on vehicle regarding the warranty.
Anonymous Coward 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Got a call from them just now - this is the current car warranty scam that is apparently having success - why else would they be still doing it?

thanks for the posts folks.
I didn't answer. I never answer any calls I don't recognize on my cell phone but they seem to keep coming in. I check this website and always see comments like these... thankfully haven't answered any yet!

I was not able to pick-up the call from 916 219 8163; they did not leave a message. I subsequently rang 916 219 8163; the following is their recorded message:
"Thank you for calling back. If you are not interested in receiving any future calls regarding our special promotions and would like to be placed on our 'do not call list' please press one. Please allow up to seventy-two hours to have your number removed from our preferred marketing list. Thank you and have a nice day."
The message lasts approx. 11 secs. and repeats approx. every 27 secs.
Pressing '1' only causes the message to loop back to its start, it then repeats as per the schedule described above. Obviously it is impossible to be automatically removed from their list.
If you see 916 219 8163 on your caller i.d. - save your airtime, don't bother to answer!

They were calling me alot. I got trasnfered to different departments. They wanted me to give them a $300.0 deposit then pay $299.00 every month for one year. When they first called in they said were from my Insurance Company a Canadian Company bull**** and at the time I was looking for a car insurance. They were really persisted to obtain my Credit Card or Checking Account. Also mentioned I didnt need Insurance but warranty yes. I got upset and hung up the phone.

Steve 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
If you post your number on the net, say in a for sale add....you guessed it, they got yer #. They have programs that search numbers out on the net like that. Then they call up with what ever flavour scam is running at the time. Bottom line, don't go on hold for someone you don't know ;)
Pierre 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Did not bother answering and googled the number right away... Good thing I did ;)
Dave 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Received 2nd call on cell # - I too, am on pay-as-you-go plan so this costs me. From 916 - Sacramento. Re vehicle warranty. Hit 1 to talk to an "associate" who asked me for my name - reply was "you called me, you should know who you're calling!" He put my number on do-not-call list. First call was last week re battery warranty. From 702 - Las Vegas. Who are these people?? Irritating!!
Chris NODE 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Did not even bother to answer, Car is not in my name so wtf.
M 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
I just got another call from this number - missed it the first time a while back so was wondering where the heck is a 916 call coming from. Same as the what the people said above - something about a car warranty expiring. I don't own a car either.
Nice to see people have nothing better to do than wasting other people's (air) time.
chrissy 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
they keep calling who is this
Miro 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
I keep cell phone "pay-as-you-go" for emergencies only.
This number calls me on my cell phone and that is costing me $0.40 as soon as I pickup the phone. I can tolerate if somebody dials wrong number, but I cannot tolerate soliciting and scams calling my phone while I pay.
This should be criminal. I should be very easy (for authorities) to track them down, stop and charge those people!
Ed 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Same here.Pay as you go.Never use it.These telemarketers call me more than anyone else.
spanico 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown

Steve 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
They are just calling random numbers to see what hits. I got 2 of them today, both claimed to remove me off the list, but the first one didn't seem to. Claimed to be calling about some expired warrenty on my car (don't have one).
They are calling you randomly and know nothing about you thats why they first ask who they are speaking to. All they have is a random number printed on there screen, they need you to give the rest.
jeremy 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown
Ya I'm getting the same call atleast once every 2 days and I waited on the line and gave em hell didn't do much good ill be reporting them cuz I am on the no call list
MISSARA 2011-06-06 21:07:03 Unknown

Received a call from 916-219-8137... several calls now. Strangely, the person calling has asked for "Amida" twice now. I had forgotten the exact name by the time this week I received what seemed like a random text message, for an "Amida" claiming that a prize had been won. Without connecting the dots, I deleted the message. Just got another call asking for "Amida" from this number...
they seem to be branching out into texting as well.

I have four cell phones and the only two that I get these calls on are the Virgin cell phones, my Sprint and AT&T do not get them.
Julie 2009-03-09 21:59:28 Unknown
I didn't recognize the number so didn't answer the call on my cell. Googled the number & found this page. AT&T charged me a quarter for the missed call. This sucks.
nice guy 2009-03-09 21:06:13 Unknown
did not answer it!
It even left a message!

My grandmother who is 94 years old and never drove or owned a vehicle in her entire life received the same phone call as well.
We both live together and have seperate telephone numbers and now I just received the same call just today.

I just got two calls from them today 03/09/2009.
First Call was about 03/09/2009 @ 9:53am
Second Call was about 03/09/2009 @ 11:13am
I have no idea who they are but I am filing a complain with National DO Not Call Registry for calling a private number without my permission.
