Obviously there are reasons why this may not work for you, but it worked for me so I share my story in the hope to kill the telemarketing industry. None of my voicemail messages were from people I wanted to talk to and I grew tired of clearing out messages. Eventually, I turned off my home answering system and called my cellular service provider to have them disable my voicemail. After a week of explaining to my friends and family that I still can text, email, tweet, and even answer phone calls, my personal life was back to normal with one exception; less phone calls in general. After about a month, I began noticing that collectors and telemarketers had stopped calling altogether. I can't say definitively what happened, but I speculate that my number gets listed as a dead line on the lists that telemarketers buy. Now, I'll ocassionally get a call like I did today from "Home Security Network" at this number, and I answered it because I don't find unknown numbers suspicious any more. Typically, I only get calls from people I've given my number. So, my next step is logging this number in my contacts with a silent custom ringtone and they may call once or maybe five times or even more. I don't care because they will stop calling soon if they haven't already, and I'm back to being unaffected. I don't even feel inconvenienced by taking the time to rewrite my story every time because it happens so rarily that I still feel like I'm saving time and aggrivation by comparison to when I had voicemail. If you try this and it doesn't work, remember that I just shared my story with no promises, but, if it works for you, please pay it forward when the opportunity presents itself.

Yep, same thing here. Some Alarm company. They called me the other day from another number. Just wish I could find my last FCC complaint and link the two of them together. I had all the company information.
Max 2011-06-06 21:07:22 Unknown
Multiple calls from this number. When I answer I just hear a few beeps and then the call is ended. They are calling my mobile number, which is registered to the No Not Call Registry.
Dirk 2011-06-06 21:07:22 Unknown
Another number I have they have clled me from is 207 - 571 - 8868 and also the other number they called me from is the 972 - 762 - 1799. And they are also calling my cell phone and when I say I want them to remove my name and number from their call list they just hang up. The guy this morning said he is calling for ADT home security company.

Funny how so many "different" satisfied customers showed up today to tell us how great this is.
That's a sure sign of desperate scammers telling us that sites like this are making it hard for them to trick people on the phone. Glad to hear it!
Todd 2011-05-03 22:18:33 Unknown
My system was installed by an ADT technician and works just fine. A bit more expensive than I'd like though.
Em 2011-05-03 19:48:52 Unknown
So then why are you looking up the phone number on here?
Check your pants they're on fire! Scamming shill.

But it is a scam, no presumption, it's a fact. A pretty common scam in fact. As soon as you hear anything even remotely like "security system", you might as well hang up.
Sound like this site is making it hard for you to run your scam. Thanks for letting us know!
WTF 2011-02-14 18:28:58 Unknown
Such presumptions...why don't you listen to the details of the call instead of assuming that it is a scam.

Hey scammer don't try running your FILTHY SCAM on this site. No one believes your transparent BS. This is a well-known SCAM.
Grow up and get a real job where you don't have to call strangers, steal money, and come on line and LIE LIE LIE.

The calls as well as the promotions you have been called about are real. Please take the time to properly go over the calls as the company calling was you was hoping to, you would have realized this. Please stop spreading false information about products and services you are uneducated about. Grow up and do you your homework please!

They just changed the laws making it legal to call cell phones. I am simply not going to answer my cell phone and put it on silent, anymore calling can leave a message...

I've received multiple calls from this company. I did a little research and it appears all their phone numbers come from the same carrier, US Xchange LLC. Given that the telemarketing company won't identify themselves, maybe the carrier can.

Found an interesting post this morning. It appears this is a scma run by ADT. Here is the text of the post...
Home Security Network script reading girl pitching "free ADT home security system". Fraudulent claim to be a response to an entry at a mall or other location, that could not possibly have been real. Call was made to a cel phone, inherently illegal regardless of DNC listings. Script reader argued doing nothing illegal when confronted with issue of call being illegal.
CID of 317-222-3395 appears to possibly be real, and traces to Indiana Bell landline, where this actual company appears to be based:
http://homesecuritynetworkshop.com/
"Free" apparently means $99 installation charge plus any extras they might pitch, plus $1300 or more contract and approved credit plus automatic payment agreement to credit card.
This appears to be the same company as operates under several other names and numbers, including 1-866-507-3344 , www.ProtectYourHome.com, www.USAlarm.com, and www.ExpertHomeSecurity.com 3750 Priority Way South Dr, Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46240
They also appear to be the same company as or have affiliated sales deals with pretend psychics, religious frauds, satellite TV marketing, and DSL sales, also common fields for fraudulent marketing schemes.

I received same type of calls from two numbers this week: 888-555-5572 and 317-222-3395. I reported both to the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm, suggest others do the same so they research this company and prosecute them accordingly.

Got 1 call in the morning from this number announcing a free "Home Security" plan or some such nonsense. I hung up. I have received 2 calls since then from the 920 560-2425 number. The first time there was no one there. The 2nd time I could clearly hear people in the background (call center?). What a scam. I called the 307-223-0458 but it asks you to leave a voice message with your phone number and the number that called your phone. Voice message? Really. Can someone confirm what or who provides this service..

I got an unwanted call and read all the blogs belowand call several of the numbers given to us . I finally got the right number to call. Call 1-888-382-1222, and you go directly to the FTC do not call list. It says it takes 31 days, but if you get another call after 31 days you can file a complaint with them at website they mention or via telephone at the same phone number. If we all call and place this number on complaint file with FTC, it will possibly help give a redmark against tbd company. I noticed the first complaint started on Oct. 5, so they must have recently bought our numbers.

Got s call at 10 am and didn't answer. Called back and it said if you don't want to be on a no call list press "1". I did, and it said request will be processed within 24 hrs. I looked up number on this web page and saw it was an insurance company. I think most of us get a cell number for privacy and resent that privacy being violated by being placed on a sales list. We should be able to have the right to know what company sold our phone number. Our rights as an American are quietly being taken away from us. I know someone in Germany, and those people make sure (after Hitler) that this will never happen to them again. It was never on our news stations, but we were never told that the German people protested Dick Chaney and refused and protested from him landing at their airport. It was all over their news, but we never were told about the incident. I guess the problem is that we don't protest. Write your Congressman. It does help.

I had a "missed call" and I called the number to see what company was calling me. I was going to look up the company on the web, and call them to complain about calling on my cell phone, because businesses are obviously not "in-network" on my calling plan.
There was no company greeting, only "to be removed from our call list, press 1." I didn't. I just hung up.
I'm wondering if pressing 1 confirms to them that they number they dialed is a valid number. I'm wondering if they're just fishing, and when you press 1...FISH-ON!
If I do not post anything else about this phone number, then you know it worked, and you can use this strategy in the future.

How can I stop this number from calling me?
Trent 2010-10-18 19:34:10 Telemarketer
I got the call this morning from a biddeford maine number that was automated asking me to press 1 if I was a home owner or something. I did and it said thank you and hung up.
I received a call later from this number and it was a guy claiming to be from the home security network as well. I answered a few questions but before giving him all of my personal information I said that I was not interested but rather that I don't want them calling my cell phone with telemarketing junk. He apologised and promised to remove my number from their list.. fat chance. At least he was nice and didn't hang up or get rude.
The 920 number shows up as appleton, WI

This must be a scam. I have reported them to the Do Not Call registry, but they keep calling. No one is on the line when I pick up.

This number has dialed my cell phone incessantly for weeks. Daily. I've asked to be put on the do not call list for them by dialing back in & using their "automated" system but they keep calling. When I answer they hang up or when I ask who is calling they hang up.
Kelsey 2010-10-07 23:42:20 Unknown
Have called a couple times, but i've missed the calls. when I call back it asks if I want to be added to do not call list, press 1. i do that and it says wait 24 hours, but then I keep getting a call from them the next day.
Chris 2010-10-07 23:00:01 Telemarketer
was calling my cell.
They identified themselves as the "Home Security Network", when I started asking questions about where they are based....they hung up...
