Folks --

These calls are coming from a group called 'Just Energy': www.justenergy.com.

They're what's called an Energy Service Company, and they're authorized by the Department of Public Utilities to sell gas at competitive rates.  However, these companies frequently use sketchy tactics in order to transition your business away from whoever your provider is (in this case probably National Grid) in order to get you onto their customer platform.  

That said, this company does not appear on the list of authorized providers that National Grid has for Massachusetts: http://www2.nationalgridus.com/pshome/supplier/gassuppliers_ma_kedma.jsp

As such, I'm not entirely sure what the story is.  Either way, don't give them any of your personal information, and don't agree to anything with them.  Tell them to immediately remove you from the list, and request that they do not call you back.

Had the phone company run a trace on the number and will be notifying the authorities first thing Monday morning .

I've been getting calls from this number for at least the past week on my house phone (which is a lately unlisted number. I do not handle the utility bills, and the person who does uses her cell phone number for everything. I found that when you answer they do not pick up right away (auto-dialer most likely placing the call) the first time someone actually answered, I told them the person they were looking for was not home and our electric company does not have this number, they asked it it was (my address) and said they weren't from the elec company. I answered another one just before I found this site, told them outright "This number is on the do not call list, our elec company does not have this number which means you are a telemarketer, and this is a listed do not call number!!" I don't know what he was trying to say as I hung up...Definitely going to try that "number is being traced by the police thing if they dare call again.

After numerous attempts to stop these calls by various means, I simply yelled at the caller. He tried repeatedly to interrupt but I didn't pause for a second and told him that if I received another call from that number, there would be big trouble. I haven't heard from them since. I don't usually respond this way but after 2-4 calls every day for 5-6 weeks and exhausting every other option to block these calls, I had to end the harassment.

I just received a phone call from this number.  I did start to give information (so they do have some), but then hung up on them in the middle after saying I was no longer comfortable with this call.

i got this call today and they said they were looking for c***** b****** which is my name.
and they said they were calling in regards to my national grid accouint i want to know whats up with this

This is the company that is calling and seeking your personal information for ID theft.... Since there from Lawerence there Latino......nationalenergyaudits.com here is there toll free number... 1-866-766-2322 I call and said that I was officer Swansi with the common wealth police and that they were under investigation for ID fraud... I got a call back from a private number and with no voice on the other end, as soon as I said we have pin pointed the location of the call the operator said I have nothing to do with this and I don't want to go to jail...........

have received nearly 40 calls from this number. won't stop

What I did was put a block on the number so ther would not be able to call anymore

got 2 calls from this # this morning.  First time I answered but said nothing - neither did "whoever" it was - i hung up.  # called me back immediately - I said "Who's this?"  No reply and I hung up.  figured it was a scam or robocall.

I am getting calls from this number dozens of times a week.There is no end to these calls,even on weekends!Its gone well beyond,very annoying!I called it back and it gives you the option of putting in your number to have it removed from their call list(done so several times)to no avail.Only other option is to block that number,I guess..

Claiming the're National Grid. Poor english skills. About some rebate program. If NG really owed us, they would post a credit to the customer's account. NG isn't doing a rebate program, (I called and checked). These calls are illogical even if they were real; why would you hire a call center to call customers to claim a rebate, when account credits are one hundred times easier? Do not give these people any information!

Calls everyday including holidays

I have been getting calls from this number everday at least twice! Infamous for sceening my calls I googled the number. All I can say is thanks for the heads up this is a scam no doubt.

I keep receiving calls from this number. My husband was the first to field a call from this number. I'm not sure if he gave our info out or not. I do remember him mentioning something about them wanting to save us money on our national grid bill though. After reading the other comments, I'm really hoping that he didn't give them any info. I have let it go to voice mail every time they've called while I'm home. No one leaves a message. It comes up on the Call ID as Lawrence, MA.

I provided what they need and now i realized that i made a big mistake.  What could be the consequence..

My mother almost fell for this. She couldn't find the bill info they were asking for thankfully so they didn't get her info. I just warned her about it. I mean what sort of company goes out of their way to send you a check for over-paying, leaves no messages and calls by "Unknown".

They keep calling but when you call them no answer

The phone calls started about 3 weeks ago. They have been all day and every day, sometimes several times a day. So three days ago I decided to try something when they called me like I knew they would, I answered the phone and told them the call was being traced and recorded by the local police department. Well funny how they have not called me since.  If this is a scam and I believe that it is this surely will scare them away. Also National Grid told me if they owe a customer money they do not send out rebate checks they give the customer credit on their bill.  I hope this has help someone out there who maybe getting the same phone calls.

This is a known scam. I work for the local newspaper and these people are identity thieves. Do not provide them any info, they are not with National Grid. I get at least 5 calls from these people every day.

I just got a call from this number 5 minutes ago, but it came up as unknown on my called ID. They left no message. This is not the first time either. This is why I ended up here, to see if anyone else was getting calls from this number.
