Officer Bryan Anderson claiming theres a state investigation going on against my dad. He rang from 2027548075. Didnt say what state. Didn't explain why. Rang twice. Thick accent. Sounded fishy. Says hes from the Office of Criminal State Investigations. Phony. Called back and he hung up.

Got a similar call  - threating to arrest me if I do not settle the account(taxes due) now  $4312. I told him I need to speak to my Sheriff. Immediately he kept the phone down -

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

The same phone call was reviced  from number 717-484-8014. The person called himself David Carter. the same story of 3 federal violations and asking if I am ready to settle it out side the court. He also said the he is going to report this to local police authority for the arrest.

They will say that you did not pay your taxes. IRS does not work this way. So be aware of this SCAM

got call from this number the name he left was alex morgan. stating they have received three criminal investigationcomplain against me.

They called my mother and got $1000 from her. She is old and fell for their scam. Please help to stop them. Does anyone know who the number is registered to as we are filling police report so that they can be arrested

Got a call about pending investigation charges for taxes due from 2011, when I tried to ask for more details they threatened me that I'll get arrested for not paying. When I requested a written notice they hung up.

I received call from this number. The person said he is office John Right and he is from criminal investigation department and somebody filed a case against my husband and he needed my husband's cell phone number. He knew my name and my husbands name.

My wife got a call last week. After their first call, I called the local police. They said it is a scam and not to give personal details and that they do not have enough personnel to go after all these calls. I was told that if they persist, we should tell them that we would file an harassment complaint against the number. Today I got another phone call for me on another of our lines (I have two phone lines) and this time it is a woman who had a far eastern accent. She said I am in legal trouble with the IRS as I have some federal taxes pending. I asked her who she is and was told that she is an officer. I asked her details, then she asked me to talk to her supervisor and then came back after 15 seconds saying that her supervisor is busy. Then I asked her to give her details and I will go to the police here. She said, I quote, "you bloody Indians - why don't you go back to your country?" and hung up. Can I file a racial discrimination complaint against the number?

The number 980-263-2142 called and left a message about some filing of charges against my husband and he better return the call all he will be arrested. I will be reporting them to the local police department.

If a self-proclaimed criminal prosecutor calls and asks you to send a settlement to prevent arrest, tell them that you are thankful they called, because you need to talk to a criminal prosecutor in his office to report a solicitation of bribery by a criminal prosecutor.

Or, if they called me back a second time (but definitely NOT if I are calling them), I might say that I am with international security services and that I intercepted their regular call because there has been a credible report of a threat to their life and I want to make sure they are protected.  BUT I need their exact address and real name and phone number to ensure that I can contact the appropriate authorities who can provide this protection.  If they turned down this request, I might just say, "I wish you good luck."

I'm not recommending the latter course of action, but who knows?  They might just be dumb enough to reveal their real information to someone who answers their call that way.

Got call from 980 263 2142 and 617 272 1501, threatened to get arrest, saying calling from Investigation Department. Asked for money as settlement.

Don't get afraid of these people. first of all,  none of government agencies contact you in such a manner and ask for money from you, if some one does, it means they are fraud. Ask them to prove their identity, and let them know that you are going to report this call to local Police department. Let them know that they are fraud, they try to target immigrant people, specially those people who speaks foreign language and not good at English. It is scam going on, Be aware.

Just another call regarding that I have criminal investigation against me....what a surprise...I know it's a bull#$@.

My father just received a call saying that there were 3 legal actions against him, that he was here illegally without a passport, that he did not pay 2011 taxes. I called the local PD and am filing a complaint. I called the number back, the guy, Devon Marshal told me to put my attitude In my pocket and I asked him who he thought he was. He screamed at me and told me "I am your father"... I told him to go to hell. I hope people don't get scared and give this man money. My father, a very intelligent, educated man who has been in this country for over 40 years was getting a little worried, so I can't imagine how someone less secure would feel.

Just received a call from Brian Anderson (980.263.2142) of Crime Investigation Department telling me that I am in big legal trouble.  When I told him to send me the legal notice which I would run by my lawyer, he put me through to his supervisor (John Wright) who introduced himself as the "chief investigator officer".  I asked him whether he was the "chief investigative officer" or the "chief investigator officer", he assured me with double authority that he definitely is the "chief investigator officer" :-).  I told them that I would be contacting my local police department and insisted that they send me the papers, they hung up.

I called back.  To my surprise, they picked up the phone saying I have reached the "crime investigation department" and told me that I should stop asking stupid questions and that I am in big trouble without asking me why I called them in the first place.  They told me that they will cancel my citizenship and that I will be "gone, gone, gone..."  whatever that means.

I called my local police department to find out if they ever heard of an agency called Crime Investigation Department.  The police officer looked up the number but didn't find any complaints against the number.  However, she told me that it sounds like a scam based on my explanation and that I should ignore it for the time being.  She asked me to file a complaint if they call me again.

If anyone receives these threatening calls, please stay calm.  And most importantly, DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

I too recieved a call. They called my house and left message to my wife telling her I need to call Bryan Adams at this no. 980-263-2142, I called them back, someone picked up phone saying "Department of Investigation, may I help you" I asked for Bryan Adams, and they conected me to him. He then told me I'm under Criminal Investigation and they are going to arrest me through the sheriff's department. When I asked Mr. Adams to send me paper work justifying these charges he stated he will not send me paper work then hung up the phone.

Got similar phone calls over a period of 15 days. I am going to ignore and not calling them back in view of all these previous complaints against this number.

I love it Desi Girl!! Way to go. I had a similar voice message left on my phone last evening from a female with an unintelligible Indian accent, she claimed I was under investigation pending arrest if I did not call back. My husband had heard about this from someone else and knew it was a scam...I feel like calling back and I know a few choice Indian gaalis (abuses)....All of us who have been getting these calls should now call back regularly and phone blast them!!!

I had a voice message from this number saying this was Office Alex XYZ calling and there are criminal charges against me which are serious, blah, blah, blah. Asked me to call back else i would be arrested. I tried calling back but went to voice mail and it gave a completely different number and asked to leave a message. Did a quick search to find this page. Obvious scam this.

I got voice message from same number and the person Brian Anderson with heavy Indian accent left a message to call him back regarding legal investigation going on from NC State Department.

So few days back I got a call from Brad King (with thick Indian accent) stating that I have a legal case due to some fraud that I have done... I knew that there is nothing like this so I asked him about the case details and he hung up saying that in 30 minutes he will send the police to my house to arrest me (BS)... After this call I searched on the Internet for this number and read all these stories.. I was furious as his fake call woke my infant up from his nap (as you know how difficult it is to put them to take a nap).... So today I decided that I will take my sweet revenge? I dialed back that number and after numerous attempts apparently someone picked up the phone.. I asked him to connect my call to Mr. Brad King ( lol) .. I asked him what information he wants with some fake name ( I guess Mrs. Sinha).. He was little bit confused as apparently they must have not called Mrs. Sinha and she must not be in their fake calling list so he hung up the phone ?,. I called him against and he said he will take a legal action against me and hung up Again lol? called 3rd time and to my surprise he picked the phone so I starred abusing him in Hindi ( seriously I am surprised as I know all those Hindi abusive terms) lol and asked him that BC /MC (my Indian friends know what it means :)) where are the cops who were coming to arrest me few days back and he also started to abuse me in Hindi in a very low voice as I bet other people sitting with him must be busy making these fake calls (so that clarify that these calls are either from India or Pakistan) and then he hung up .. I am going to keep on calling them whenever I feel like taking out my anger and frustrations lol?.as this way they will taste their own medicine AND yeah, I called them using *67 : )

I received the call and the officer from National Crime Investigation Bureau, David Carter (with Chinese accent) and was asked to call 980-263-2142. Glad I googled it.

I received a voice message from 980-263-2142 stating that my 'Identity' has been stolen and that they are investigating this case.

I am Furious:
Some guy calls my wife to threaten her that I was going to be arrested in 30 minutes. These scam people should be jailed or at the least punished so that they do not scare innocent people who being naive just accepts their version of the fabrication.
